Well the stock stuff is good for 5 years / 100,000K miles and it's been nearly 5 years that my Liberty has been in service so: out with the old and in with the new! I know it's minor and probably stuip to be so excited about something so trivial as the coolant but man I'm happy I don't have to worry about it for another couple of years.

What's really weird is the G05 stuff is clear as water... I spent a good 5 minutes looking at the resviour thinking I just filled up my cooling system with water.

Good deal! Better safe than sorry. I was thinking of having mine done this spring. I'm not mechanical inclined enough to try it myself.

So tell him how easy by explaining the process. Not everyone feels that they have the skills or know how to tackle the "easy" stuff.

"Spot" him through the process if you will. I read that you are good at spotting.

4 jackstands
2 crapsman floor jacks
1 heated garage
big bucket for catching coolant
small hand tools
latex gloves to keep coolant off skin
G-05 Coolant

Put Liberty in garge with heater (because it's winter outside)
Put the liberty in the air so I had some working room
Pull lower radiator hose @ radiator connection
drain all coolant
reattach radiator hose
fill via resviour
run Liberty with front end jacked up in air still (rear jackstands removed) to send air pockets to radiator
lower Liberty back to ground
drive around on bumpy roads to eliminate rest of air pockets
check resviour / refill as needed

Did you drain the coolant by taking the lower hose off? I always worry about using those pet-cocks to drain the fluid. Ive had them leak after using them before.

How many miles do you have on it? Its not a bad idea to change out the hoses and the tstat around 60k. The hoses can easily leave you stuck on the side of the road.

Yeah I used the hose only.. didn't touch the radiator drain.

Didn't do the hoses or the T-stat. I was planning those around the 100k mile mark. I'm at 63K right now after 5 years.

Just had mine done at a local stealership - cost me $109 for complete flush and fill. Not too bad, I think.
