Ordered a set of "OIIIO" custom license plates, I think I'm one of the first people, as I've never seen them before, and neither has anyone on KJ country. A few people plan on getting them in their states, I've started a bug! Some said they think there was 7 lines in the grill, maybe it was 5, either way, I got the pat on the back for the good idea. I'll post up some pics sometime.

At least it's better than the real imaginative people who spend money to put on a customized plate that say "Benz" on their Mercedes or Chevy on thier Chevrolet or.... Well, you get the idea! :?

Ther are 7 lines in the grille. Always have been that way on Jeeps. I think it is even trade marked. They have also introduced 7 vehicles in their product line to match the 7 lines in the grille.

That is why jeep grilles have always looked similar.

Hate to state the obvious, but if you look at the grille of Your Jeep in your avatar...... 7 slots...... I am sure that most Jeepers will get the idea though and in most states I don't think you could do a full "OIIIIIIIO" as they don't allow that many characters.

YOU HIT THIS ONE RITE ON THE HEAD.
It is jeeps trade mark and you gould say logo too. I have never seen a jeep with out the 7 slot grille

Except on my 95 YJ I had 5 slots and 1 HUGE HOLE from hitting a deer. LOL

Funny though if you read up on the history of the grill it was originally designed by FOMOCO when they were building the military Jeeps along side Wlllys. :?

Actually to do 7 slots, you only need 6 "I"s & 2 "O"s , or 8 characters. I believe most states allow 8 characters.

"O I I I I I I O" or OIIIIIIO since the space between the headlight and the first up/down sheetmetal makes a slot on either side of the grill.

Funniest one I saw was a Hummer that had the word "Hummer" inscribed in the lower bumper. The license plate sat right above that bumper. The license plate was inscribed "IWANTA"........... Think about it... NY never caught it because they couldn't visualize how it looked!

There are seven slots on Jeeps also 7 on hummers. Hummers are a distance cousin to the Jeep. Back in the day of AMGenaral. I used to own a h3 and my plate was MCHUMMR, I think I`m going with TANEWH4. thats THE NEW H4 in AZ. you can only have 7 letters or numbers. Hummer owners know that the new h4 is going to be hummers anwser to the CJ

I know everybody always thinks of the "seven slot grille" when they think of Jeeps but back in the beginning, they actually had NINE slots in the grill. And go look at some pictures of the full size Cherokees and Wagoneers. Some of them don't have slots at all, just an open space in front of the radiator, while others have as many as twelve slots. It's just that the seven slots has become their trademark in the past twenty or thirty years.
