There are a set of factory skids locally from an 05 gasser, will they fit my 06 CRD? Thanks, Ken

Yes, but you will need the Nutzerts hardware to mount them. They can't be removed from the donor jeep (assuming these are used skids).

Probably some different mounting points since different transmissions..42RLE vs 45RFE

They mount to the frame and cross members. When I bought my set from jparts.com (tranny and transfer case skids), they listed one set of parts fitting all Liberties 2005+. I had no problem fitting them to mine.

That I can' t help you with.

They use these things called "Nutzerts" to create threaded mounting locations in the frame. They are essentially giant rivets that are threaded in the middle. You seat them with a couple wrenches and a bolt designed to squeeze them down so that the tip mushrooms inside the frame. You can then bolt into them as if the frame were threaded in that location. Once they are seated, they can never be removed (short of drilling them out of the frame).

My skid package came complete with the required Nutzerts and tools. I recall that someone tried to do a swap similar to yours and had some problems locating the Nutzerts. I think the parts themselves are not all that uncommon, it is finding the right sized ones for the Jeep. Dealers were no help to that guy, as they just gave him a blank stare.

This thread might be helpful:

Also, you can buy the parts online here to (just not with the Jeep part #):

I hope someone figures this out. I was thinking of grabbing some junkyard skids, but I'd also need to know what Nutserts to track down!

Found this last night: http://www.youngs.org/kjparts/default.asp?category=8 At the top of the page it has " In this thread, Hoss75 provides the correct part numbers for the bolts and nutzerts that you should use to install skids to the underside of the KJ. (Bolts: 6506027AA, Nutzerts: 6506644AA.) " with a link to the forum thread of http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=10149#10149

Fantastic! There is a local junkyard which carries nothing but trucks and Jeeps (and some tractors!). I'll give 'em a call and see if they can hook me up with a set of used skids.
