*gasp* since i have a manual the powertrax wont be very happy?? how so? and what is the other option.. just get a DTT front and rear?? how do they get along with manuals. if worse comes to worst i guess i could sell my body to science and buy air lockers.. but that's a last resort

none of the "auto" lockers like the manual tranny
you need either LSD ,IMO not good for much in the rear
or a selectable locker ,ARB is the only one for the 8.25

I plan to do ARB's front and rear when I "take over" the KJ from my wife in a year or so
but I will be doing them my self
Not to really throw a wrench in your works but if you do put in lockers that are carrier replacement type
I would also go 4.10 while I was at it

they lock when power is applied and unlock when it it taken away
lock when you go and unlock when you push the clutch
when they do this you will swerve side to side even on dry streets
the one in my TJ does it when I get into hills on the highway and I use the cruise cont.

I'm not exactly sure. Something with the little extra drivetrain slack causes problems with gear synchronization when shifting. At least that is how it was on the 5 speed KJ I that I installed one. I'm not sure if the new 6 speeds would be any better.

It really doesnt have anything to do with it locking or unlocking. They don't automatically lock under power. It will remain unlocked in a turn unless the inside wheel is accelerated, by the engine, past the outside wheel. Actually in a turn only the inside wheel is powered, this is why it has a tendency to chirp the tire. You only have one wheel powering the vehicle in a turn. If you stay on the gas eventhough the inside wheel is slipping, then eventually the inside wheel will accelerate past the outside wheel and the locker will lock up-- resulting in either fishtailing or a harsh jerk. Just make sure if you are in a turn and the rear tire starts chirping, lay off the gas a bit.

Also the locker will remain locked unless one wheel is accelerated past the other by being rolled through a longer path (such as in a turn). This is how it also the wheel to turn at different rates in a turn.

They don't lock on power and un-lock on de-acceleration. The owner's manual on the power-trax no-slip describes perfectly how the it operates.

Manual Trannies and lockers do not like the street. Going from coast to drive in a turn or vise versa was always a good time. P I had a Detroit in my Stickshift street/strip car. Ended up going with a spool. Much better street manners LOL.
