Hi Mike,

Does your tech feel that excess oil caused the turbo failure? Ours is making funny noises and our tech is concerned about the amount of oil in our intake. We may be up against a similar issue, and it would help if I can put our tech in contact with yours.

Thanks,

- Chris

Fourth, I need to feel comfortable with my wife/family in this vehicle, especially since she drives 200mi/day. After looking into it with a little emotion removed, we will be keeping the CRD. Although, neither of us feels real comfortable with that at this time. SO I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE and I will continue to be a member here!

Thanks for everything,
Mike

Glad to hear things are going better and yes, Nalley is one of the better dealers around. Other than preventing oil in the intake and periodically cleaning certain things that the manual doesn't mention, I'd recommend the ORM/SEGR mod (legal ramifications notwithstanding) to prevent exhaust soot from being recirculated into the combustion process. Also, learning how to bleed the filter (paper towels, 11mm wrench is all you need) is a good thing for anyone who'll be driving it. Easy and supremely useful in areas like GA where the temperature and weather changes a lot.

About the dip stick. European's have different ideas about dipsticks. The MIN mark is just that, don't put less than that or engine damage can occur. The max mark is the maximum amount of engine oil that will not cause damage to the engine. In between is where capacity is.

Filling it up to the max line should not cause damage, but, as others have stated-- will just result in it blowing the oil out of the ccv faster. It tends to pass the oil regardless. The provent has been my solution, but it is a pain in the arse, one that we should not have to contend with.

I still use the EHM...am going to find a way to connect it downstream in the exhaust so any steam exits the tailpipe. I also leave a bit of dipstick showing below the Max line...

Sorry it took so long, but there wasn't much to update until yesterday. Apparently the intake pipe kept getting ordered wrong so nothing happened at all last week. So I blew a gasket as it were on Friday and demanded a rental for the weekend. Funny thing, the car was fixed in one day once they started paying for a rental. We picked it up yesterday with a brand new turbo! Hopefully, that's the end of the problems. Thanks for everyones help and support. I plan on doing the EHM ASAP.

Funny how money talks, eh? Anyway, glad to hear you're back running. Out of curiosity, did they replace the hoses that go to/from the intercooler or just the turbo?
