Anyone replace the hood release lever yet? Mine just broke. The little plastic loop thing that holds the cable snapped. Now I have to use needle nose pliers to open the hood. Any tips? I'm guessing the plastic face on the left of the foot well has to come off somehow...

Buy a pair of small vise grips and just clamp them on and forget it, always there. ..... yes you can tell I grew up in Redneck hillbilly heaven!!
The panel is not hard to get off at all, then it runs up into the hood area, should not be too bad to replace

i had this happen to me on my honda civic. i could still pull it by hand so it wasnt to big of a deal but it was hard to do and somtimes had to use pliers. id say that that part doesnt cost to much though. i would check at the junk yard near where u live first though

Hood release cables are fairly cheap to buy. They can be a pain to install sometimes tho but not all that difficult. Just give the kick panel a firm pull and it will come right off.

Vise-grips are great though. Never seen one break.

Can you use a zip tie? It sounds like if a loop broke you could just make a new one out of a zip tie. At least that should hold you over for a while.

Okay, that's bizarre. I felt the handle snap the other day when I went to check the oil in -20 C weather. It just went "bing" and the handle pulled all the way back suddenly. I had to use pliers to pull the little cable in there to get the hood open.

Today it works fine again. WTF?
