Tow Package= Trans Cooler??

If you get the factory tow package on the CRD do they put on any type of Transmission cooler from the factory?

Yes, the factory trans cooler is part of the AC condensor. I think it was part of the CRD package - whether you got the tow package or not.

I'm looking at a Jeep, but it doesn't have a tow package and I just wanted to try to figure out what it would cost to put the hitch, wiring, etc on. This way I know not to worry about a cooler. Thanks

The factory wiring kit costs $100 online(or a little less with a 25% shop discount through a local dealer). It's part number is: 82207248

The hitch online costs $166(or a little less with a 25% shop discount through a local dealer). Its part number is: 52059224AC

You could probably find an aftermarket hitch cheaper. For that matter there is a thread in the general forum where people are suggesting cheaper plug in wiring kits.

Be careful when looking at receivers (or hitches are some people refer to them). I picked up a Class III receiver rated for 5K lbs w/o a weight distributing type hitch. Some receivers say you can tow 5K lbs but if you dig deeper you will find that it's only with a weight distributing hitch. I got mine from Etrailers. I also picked up a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller for $98, which is a good buy IMHO.

Sir Sam is right on with the wiring but I will add one more thing. I would consider picking up the 7pin pole type wiring. If you do any type of semi serious towing you'll want an electronic brake controller so get the 7 pin pole wiring. Additionally, if you don't have the overhead console, you'll also need an additional wiring adaptor. Since I didn't have the overhead console I ordered part numbers 82207620 and 82207248. The main harness was $112 and the secondary harness was $35. I bought both from my dealer.

what is this 82207620 you speak of? I do not have that in any of my parts fiches, and the parts fiche makes no mention of anything besides the whole kit.

I was told that I will need this since I don't have the overhead EVIC console. Somehow the wiring is a bit different. I just picked up both wiring looms today so I haven't had a chance to install it yet. Therefore, any additional details are sketchy at this point!!! I'll see what I come up with when I go to install both sets of wires.

When I search for the 82207620 online I do find it, and for about $30, however when I search the Jeep parts fiche it is not in either the 2005 or 2006.

I am really curious as to what this is, take pictures when you do this.

I'm not worried about the wiring or the receiver. My main worry was in if I needed to figure a cooler. You've answered my question. Thanks for all input. You guys are great !!!!!! Hopefully one of these days I'll actually buy a Jeep that I can put my SEGR kit on and drive ????

Sam what the second harness does is to bring the blue wire for the electric trailer brakes AND (read very important) 12+ to run the tail lights and to charge the trailer's battery to the rear along with the blue brake wire. It may not be the correct one for the 05/06 CRD but without it you'll not have tail lights or trailer battery power. The 12 volt line goes through the firewall to the battery. The towing harness has a bundle that contains relays that actually turn the tail light on. They are not powered by the tail lights in the kj. On my 06 there was a "trailer tow" fuse position already in the power distribution. The wire enters the car but I was not able to figure where it went. Also the fuse panel by the drivers door has a fuse for towing also. The special cable has the pick voltage for the trailer battery relay. It is hooked to the power outlet and on my 06 it's always on and that's no good. So I hooked it into behind the fuse on the door panel as it's switched. To sum it up there's three things it does. Brings 12V+ to the rear, supplies a blue wire for trailer brakes and has a control wire for the trailer battery relay. This wire hooked up as shown was always on in my 06 therefore the change I mentioned above.
