heat if you have it. i actually went ghetto fabulous on em and used a portable heater with a long orange extension chord in addition to a hair dryer so that i was doing two at a time, it worked great. i used dental floss but forwarning, it breaks... not a terrible thing just make sure you get enough. you can also use fishing line. afterward you can use WD-40 or goo gone to get the sticky stuff off, do not use dish detergent or anything alcohol based.

i use a tape from 3M im not sure the exact name, but its grey and has a red overlayer and its at home depot. its the industrial grade stuff and when holds badges on very well... when you apply this stuff make sure the body panel is warm or else it wont hold for long/

Agreed, thats one thing I look for when looking at vehicle, I noticed when jeep lettering is gone, and makes me think its been repainted but not completed finished off.

Course, I usually dont bother to replace em either, mostly because it doesnt seem to make a big difference when I sell it.

Why I want to debadge is that I DO NOT like chrome, chrome-like, chrome-ish, etc. I feel that chrome doesn't belong on a Jeep, well, not mine anyway. Just personal preference. Come springtime, my Cragar centercaps are next to be de-chromed.

I understand your thinking though YJBeef, with your background in the body shop. Hell, when I buy a new vehicle, the Dealership's logo sticker will not be on that vehicle, unless they knock $1000 off the price for "my advertising fee". I've never had one agree to that price, however...

PaU, I fully agree, I hate chome on jeeps also, on my YJ I switched the Jeep lettering from silver to black for that reason.

KJ4ME, I don't get what you mean by "how aren't they real" I never said they weren't, they just usually turn out right the second time they are put on. If they were painted before they were 1st put on then they would seem like thats the way it should be not second handed

I have thought about debadging mine but I want to replace the badges with the vinyl stickers instead. I was planning on asking pixeldzn how much it would cost to get the stickers all the way around. Just my idea.

Go for it man! Whatever you like, or think you'll like, try it & make it your own. Most mods, especially like what we're discussing here, can be undone/redone in no time!

Hell when I buy a used vehicle I want to rip that thing right off.

If I were buying a new vehicle they sure as hell better not put one of those on.

Well we will know shortly debadgeing my '02 s peeling badges are next on the agenda. Then I'll try laying them on bakers parchment paper (it's slicone coated) and I have some Dupli-Color Metalised (anodize) paint left over from my Grill slats and air boxes and I'll give it a trey for peeling top clear platic off spray on some bonding agent the base coat and then probably ANODISED RED. Since I already have SPORT 4x4in brushed silver on the hood. The little bity LIBERTY SPORT badging just doesnt look right and with a lot of the clear peeling it looks rather tacky  If it doesn't work out as I want I can always oder something from PIXeldzn and spend some more money

yeah dealerships are annoying with their stickers, and windshield paint especially. When I purchased mine, they had the price written pretty big on the windshield in white paint or shoe polish or whatever, and it took forever to get all of that junk off with a razor. And to make matters worse, the tiny little bits of paint particles static-clinged themselves all over the place on my Jeep!! I'm still picking those d@mn flecks off.

any one can do it...its not hard to do...and you will always remember your first time....

If you have a hair dryer just heat up the emblem (not super hot , you can tell when it starts to peel off good) and pull off, or use a piece of fishing line to slide in behind the letters and sort of saw off. Goo Be gone, and other things like that take off the residual left behind, then wax good afterwards. Doesnt take long at all to do.

Tom

Well, I just finished the debadging process. I thought I'd pass it along: I used a hair dryer, but instead of fishing line, I used some 26ga craft wire I stole from the wife when she wasn't looking. And obviously, to remove all of the residue, I used the Goo Gone stuff. It was a fast process, and I love the "cleaner" look. Thanks again to all!!! :D

I caught them putting the stealership sticker on durring the "Dealer Prep" stage and told the guy doing it that i would hunt him down if he put that on my car.

Front license plate for the stealership went sailing into the trash as soon as I got home. I will be damned if i will advertise for them AND provide a spot for speed lasers if I don't need to. Thank god KY doesn't have front plates!!!!!
