i run a 265/75/16 MT tire...now i do put my jeep through its paces but the dana 30a is crap for off roading...so i blew up the caseing...i wanted to get a new asembly w/4:10 gears and re-do the rear...i was told the the 4:10 assembly was made only for the 4 cylinder kj...somthing like the mid axle shafts were shorter...does anyone know if this is true? i'm still getting 4:10s, i just have to rebuild the front my self...and last i am putting a lockrite locker in the rear...does anyone have that or simuliar in the 8.25...also not sure if one woould hold in the front...opinions would be nice?

There is the most recent front locker/lsd post.

Had you tried the "collar" fix?

IIRC, the 4-banger 4.10 front is a bolt-in?? They are hard to find, as are just the gears.

The diff from a 4 banger KJ with the 4.10's is a direct bolt in for the V-6.I have one in mine right now and has been in there for 32,000 miles.I also run 265/75's and zero front diff problems,I also have a Detroit TrueTrac up front also.Done some pretty nasty trails here in CO with no problems,ARB out back.

That info is NOT correct. A diff from a 4banger with 4:10's will bolt right up using the same shafts.

You can also get the gears from:

http://reiderracing.com/

You would probably have to call them.

Edit: You always beat me tjkj.

I'd say where the confusion came in is that the CV shafts are different on the 4 banger.

Thier different for the CRD, I didn't know they were different for the 4cyl as well. Does that make 3 different lengths?

2 different lengths(gas and CRD) just the 4 banger gasser gets smaller CV's.

Funny in a non-funny way. I got 4.1 diffs in my 4 cylinder. Ok it's a CRD 4 cylinder but still a 4 cylinder!! :D
