Let's meet at the intersection of cottonwood canyon road and highway 79 (Florence Highway) at 8:00 AM Sunday 11/6/05. There is a dirt parking lot area there with a park service sign board. Gas up before you get there.

I'll be on cb channel 4.

Leave the parking area by 8:30 should get us back to Florence around 5:00'ish depending on how much fun we can stand. Bring a cooler with lunch and lot's of water.

All levels of rigs can participate on this trail and it should be a beautiful day so the more the merrier!

You could possibly run the trail stock. It's on par with CK. Do you have a tranny skid? If you have a tranny skid I definitely think you'd be ok. I did most of the trail in my stock liberty before. Didn't go all the way to coke ovens though. I've heard there's one step obstacle on the coke ovens branch that a tranny skid is recommended for. Up to you, come meet us and ride along at least!

Correct. Cole ovens trail is a side trip off box canyon. You'll end up doing the box canyon trail plus the coke ovens trail. That's why it's an all day trip. There is a possibility to do a river crossing and come out a different way through Cochran. It sounds like a cool area. Coke ovens is only rated a 2.5 while box canyon is rated a 3.0. I've heard LOSTAZ folks say a tranny skid is highly advisable for the stair steps obstacle but I also read posts on AZVJC that say a stock rig can do it no problem. After seeing your driving skills on CK I think you'd be ok.

Do NOT do Coke Ovens without a tranny skid.!

I would not recommend anyone do this in a Liberty without at least a tranny skid..

This one will put a hole in your tranny pan before you know what is happening..

AZVJC has members that can do it without a tranny skid, but look at
what they are driving.
