I had an "interesting" experience this week with my CRD. I started getting a shutter when driving at slow speeds, but not at the normal highers speeds (e.g., 55mph and 62mph) that others have reported. This seems to be getting worst as today the CRD took to shuttering and stalling at traffic lights and when I stopped at stop lights. Has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I had some intermittent stuttering from bad fuel - added lot's of Power Service until I could change out a fuel filter.

Are you seeing any codes? (e.g. check engine)

Have you made any changes lately? (e.g. fuel filter, how long since the last change?)

How many miles on it, and what model year?

Had any EGR work done prior to this?

More information is helpful in narrowing things down.

Regards,

Mark

Try bleeding the air out of your fuel filter  It's free, quick, easy and does not require a trip to the dealer

Thanks ATXKJ, msilbernagel, and Joe,

This may be a case of bad fuel since I didn't have any codes CEL. I haven't made any changes lately, but we have had colder than normal weather. I have an early 2006 CRD with about 25,000 miles on it and had the EGR replaced at about 7000 miles.

What is involved in bleeding the air out of my fuel line? Are there any threads on this?

Thanks again -- I hope it isn't a TC problem. I would like to get a Suncoast, but would like to negotiate it with the dealer first.

Anyway, thanks for all of your help!

These are actually threads on changing the fuel filter - however at the end of the change you bleed the filter head - so skip to the end of the procedure

Also try to clean the MAP sensor in your intake. Most likely it is clogged with soot.

I took your advice and bled the fuel line and cleaned the MAP sensor (it was definitly dirty). The CRD is now purring along as before. Thanks!

Warm and grateful regards!
