I know this is not a new topic, but I have read all the posts I could find about it, tried some of the remedies and still have the code. One of the items I did not try is checking the purge solenoid. I saw a post that mentioned a method to check this, but could not find any info. I believe Detroit Doc mentioned the test method, but, again I cannot find the post.
Please forgive me for kicking a dead horse, I just want this problem found and fixed. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

I know you've checked some things, but are you sure your hoses are secure? I had the same error off and on for some time. Found that I had some loose hoses coming from the solenoid.

I had mine return after a few months, and then the light went off.
Code is there, I am ignoring it until the Orange Check Engine light turns Red. I did everything I can, but no way I am paying $100 to dealer to check it up then just reset the code and return the jeep back to me, only to have the code return after a few months..

PS: I still cannot see the diagram above under my hood. It just isn't the same. Does anyone have a picture of the area?

I should be located by your battery. Its the one with the green cap.

OK....I found a cracked hose on the line from the PCV to the airbox. Cut it to get rid of the crack and reinstalled. Also, removed the purge solenoid and tested for leak-through with no power. The solenoid seems to be OK. Did a test run and the code is still there. Gas cap is on tight. No other hose issues are apparent. Now waiting for the engine to cool down. Going to try the three heat up/cool down cycle test to see if the error code goes away. It is about 55-60 degrees here in Southern California (gotta love it!!) so it may take awhile. Thanks so far for the answers.
I seriously don't want to have to take it to the dealer and have them charge me up wazoo to run a diagnostic when there is so much knowledge here.

If you remove the negative battery terminal for 10 min it will erase the code.

I don't think they do that...at least mine doesn't.

I had P0441 back in August. Found and replaced a cracked hose back above the rear axle going to the evap canister. I found several hose with cracks, so I replaced them all. Start at the intake and follow the lines back, the underhood diagram shows a very generic layout you can follow. Then disconnect the NEGATIVE terminal only, leave disconnected for a minute or two to clear the code/reset the ecm(I usually disconnect before I start working).

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've never had to replace so much bad rubber hose on a vehicle before. Every piece I check shows signs of cracking/dry rot. I now have P0442 that comes when it's very cold, goes away when it gets warm out. Replaced every hose I can get my hands on, got to be a very small leak somewhere.

Matt

Thank you everyone for the help.
I checked all the hoses I could reach before it started raining on me. Only found the one I mentioned earlier (so far).
Did a test drive and the light was still on. Removed the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and it cleared as described. Now, let's see how long it lasts.
I also noticed many other hoses that look to be on their way south, but not quite cracked or broken. These will be replaced ASAP. This hose issue has also come up with my motorcycle (Victory); I am thinking the formulation may have changed or something to meet EPA standards; just a thought.
Now, if it will quit raining for awhile I can continue my cracked hose search.

Thanks again everyone.
