I have two 05 crd's.Both vehicles will smell of hot diesel fuel under the hood when they get shut off. This has been happening for a year. DCX shop Doesn't have any idea, so they say.I am no stranger to diesel vehicles. There are no line or filter leaks at all,dry everywhere
There were no apparent fuel leaks or seeps until now.The odor and now seep is coming from under the timing belt cover. One of the jeeps is actually leaving a couple droplets on the belly pan under the engine drivers side now but not enough to drip on the garage floor or spread under the jeep pan while driving. It seeped last winter when it was so cold as well but went away when the extreme cold left(-28 F)My guess is that it is coming around the pump shaft seal?
Has anyone else with the CRD experienced the same condition? rubicon03

First you should check your fuel manager head, which is higher than the CP3 IP, so a leak could run down the supply line to the IP - the head springs a leak when the fuel heater is cremating itself - that's the plug closest to the fender

Also, the Dodge boys have problems with the CP3, where the internal seals start leaking - lots more of them than there are of us, so the incidences would normally be higher amongst them - Dodge warrants that leakage, so if it is the IP itself, it should be a Dealer service event.

My CRD had a loose clamp on the CP3 pump inlet hose. I had to take the intake hose off the FCV and disconnect one wire to get to it. I double clamped it and turned it top left so I can tighten or check it without removing anything. I hope this helps you.
