H'mmm... It maybe the sinus infection or the pneumonia talking, but I might be able to be persuaded to do another run if we can get ~30 people interested and probably prepaid this time.
Put me down for a couple of them Dennis. I'm sure I can get rid of 2 assembled kits in short order.

I am still doing some PCB layout tweaking. I am not sure on the size, but it will be a smaller PCB. The guts will fit much easier in the enclosure and may be able to eliminate some of the fitting issues with the power resistor. It is also possible that we might be able to use a slightly smaller enclosure. Only time will tell. I will PM everyone on this list, but it would be nice to have everyone's contact info(email and mailing addresses) also. PM me with your info and any questions.

I have one of the original kits still in the padded envelope which I have not touched yet. The reason is that I will not venture into putting this on my wife's daily driver until the weather warms and I know she won't need the KJ in case of weather. I'll sell it for $85 shipped as-is, or $120 with the components soldered up. If someone wants one now, I may as well sell this and put myself on the end of the new waiting list. If desired, I can ship the kit directly to UFO for a full build-up.

PM me if interested.

- Chris

Loco, suggestion for the next version of the kit - include DIP sockets right off the bat so the chips are replaceable and not hard-soldered.

Update: I will have the new layout completed this week sometime. So hang in there...

Chris, I had originally thought about including sockets, but last year Turbo Tim talked me out of it. Here is what he had to say about them:

I don't like the idea at all. In an automotive environment, the vibration, moisture, heat, cold, all add up to a bad connection. Remember that there is not any real current in any of the connections so they could become bad connections very easily. They can corrode very quickly.
Also, if you were to pour in a potting compound, like epoxy, then you couldn't change them out anyway.

We decided against them, but if you build it up you can always pick up a few at the local electronics house if you really want them.

I do not believe they are necessary or even reliable. The chips are more reliable than some of the components; adding socket connections create more opportunities for long term failures. If you wish to install them, get the machined version with gold contacts -- they aren't cheap, but anything less is junk.
