Well I have proof

11min 58 sec with tons of traffic and yellow caution flag. I think ther eis a 10min 50 in it.

There were alot of looks when I came around with the tires howling and alot of thumbs up for getting it around some of the corners.

Lucky sensored word......I know of a couple of 300zxers that have gotten to run.....seems like alot of fun...

I also heard its like 150 euro per lap.......

Heard wrong

4 laps were 64 euros. A year pass is 895 euros. I love the Rings. It can be but it can be deadly. The day I was there 3 motorcycle riders lost their lives.

Wow! That's bad. If that happened in the US, they would ban motorcycles from that track.

I do a lot of motorcycle track days, and luckily I've never seen a fatality. I've seen plenty of get offs, but no serious injuries. Most of the time, it just pisses people off because the session gets red flagged while the crash truck rolls.

I'd love to do some of the Euro tracks. I've done all my track days at Barber Motorsports Park, which is a pretty tight, lower speed track and Nashville Superspeedway which is a NASCAR track with an infield course. The infield is tight, but the NASCAR apron and high bank are an WOT type of event. Here's a shot of me on the apron heading for the front high bank:

The cool thing is the CRD tows my bike, tools, fuel, tent, chairs, etc...VERY WELL!

Wow nice bike. I'm looking to get a bike for myself too but I'm a beginner so I'll probably stick to a 500cc for a while. As for the CRD on the 'ring that's quite amazing. I have yet to take mine for at least a 1/4 mile pass at the local track.

The size of the engine on a bike can be decieving. My bike is a 1200, but it's air-cooled, 2-valve, pushrod technology. Basically a hot rodded Harley motor. It only makes about 85hp at the rear wheel. A modern 600cc sportbike will put out over 100hp to the rear wheel and a 1000cc race replica sportbike will lay down somewhere in the neighborhood of 150hp to the rear doughnut.

Of corse, the 600 only puts out about 43ft/lbs of torque and the 1000 about 75ft/lbs. My 1200cc 50 year old tractor motor design puts out about 75ft/lbs at 6000rpm and all of us here know that it's all about the torque.

I'd love to have a race replica 1000cc sportbike. I can't imagine what it's like riding a bike that weighs 450lbs with 150+hp to the rear tire. WOW! That's got to be awesome. The only issue is on a motorcycle, you have limited grip having only two tires and that 1000cc bike can spin the rear tire up at will and toss you off like a rag doll.

You can't see it in the above picture, but I've got a steering damper on my bike. It's got a steep rake and short wheelbase, so I put one on just for safety sake. Never had headshake on it. I also had a damper on my Ducati. You can see it just behind the right fork tube in this picture:

Aw crud, wish I hadn't seen that. Now I'm going to be getting ideas of digging my '83 Nighthawk 650 out of the barn and getting it running again. As if I'm not already spending enough money on the CRD and the MB.

Hmp, seeing someone get to run their Jeep at the track kinda rubs in the fact I missed our once a year track day last weekend. Once a year the colorado state patrol lets the Z car club run their track. Its a really nice track but each weekend they have the track day I am always missing out for some reason or another.

To top it off we are without a track here right now because the lease ended at the old site and the new one just started construction.

Itll be fun once it starts, though in the past they didnt seem very receptive to me taking the Jeep out...........I asked.

Hey, hope you were also taking your CRD for a spin in Camp4Fun. Imho Germany's best offroad park, located just a few minutes away from the Nuerburgring.

By the way I spend alot of weekends there. Should you want to hit it again, let me know.......!

Cool! Good to see someone else in Germany. I have heard of the event but have never looked into it. I am close to the Ring (Bingen) so getting there is not the issue but time from work is. I have a race this weekend in bitburg so I will be leaving Friday afternoon to head down and start setting up for the track. Racing was so much more fun when I wasn't organizing it. emial me when you are going to be at the Ring again

Hockenheimring is the best bang for the buck. $22 for each 20 min session. it is a good place to learn. You should look into flying with your bike to Germany and tour the tracks for 3 weeks. I know they offer the same for flights to the US through Luftansia for about $2500

I'd love to ride some of the Euro tracks. Silverstone, Brno, Jerez, Le Mans, Mugello, Catalunya, Donnington Park, Assen, Sachsenring, Valenciana, the list goes on.

We have some nice tracks here in the US that I want to ride first. I'd like to do Road America, VIR, Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio, Road Atlanta, and Miller Motorsports Park. I've ridden at Barber Motorsports Park a few times. It's an amazing track and suits my bike and riding style well. Most of the Euro tracks are big wide open tracks where my poor little bike would get left for dead. I like the tight, twisting, tracks where I can excercise my torque advantage.

Used to ride a 1999 M900s myself. Had an arrow adjustable damper on it for highway oscillations. Seemed more like the road surface than the bike that would induce wobbles and would be proportional with speed.
Nothing like vtwin torque.

I saw a video of Hans Stuck (spelling?) tearing up the big ring in a race prepped BMW. Simply awesome. The sound to it was an overture of rpms enhanced by stacattos of gear shifts.
I also saw video of the C6 vette ripping that place apart too, same version as GT1 prep.

Hell, I'd run the rings in a vw microbus, if it was the only way to get on there with wheels. That might just be insanely fun.

I remember seeing an episode of BBC's Top Gear in which they tried to do under 10 minutes in a Jaguar diesel and didn't make it, Jeremy Clarkson allmost crapping himself
