I am going to put some new steel rims on my Libby, but I cannot deciede wether or not to go with 15x7 or 15x8's.
Can some of you guys post pics of your jeeps with either of the two, preferably looking head on so that I may see how much the tires stick out.

Thanks a Ton

Remember, it's not only how wide the wheel is, you need to have the correct backspacing.

also may be important as to what size tire you are planning on running, some sizes require a wider (say 8 inch ) rim that a narrow tire. Just a little bit more info as to what you are planning, for instance a 30X9.50X15 would do good on a 7 inch, but a 31X10.50 X15 would do better on an 8 inch ,

Make sure the 15's fit over your brakes first

and 7" rims.

Thats one reason I stayed with the 16's.
With 15's you get a few more tire sizes and they can be a bit cheaper, but I wanted to stay with the bigger. Bigger is better...right?

Plus, getting pix of all wheels with different backspacing would be impossible. Not all wheels will fit the Liberty.

I can get you the part number of the wheels I bought.

From the Summit Racing website.

Cragar Soft 8 Wheels
Wheel, Soft 8, Steel, Black, 16 in. x 7 in., 5 x 4.5 in. Bolt Circle, 4 in. Backspace, Each

Image

These wheels make the tires stick out just a bit from the fender flares.

Question...Backspacing and offset is one in the same...correct?

I here people use those words interchangeabley however, when people talk of offset they usally refer to + or - (i.e. +12 or -12). When talking backspace people usally just say 3.5 inches or 4 inches.

Do I have this right?

Troy, this is what I got when I tried to open the website, “There is a problem with this website's security certificate. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.” So is this safe to open? I don't want to open a can of worms!

So, the less the backspacing...the more the tire will extend past the fender flare or well (?).

G'day Matey,

Have a look here http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=25985 and follow the link to some pics. Also, there is another lad over here in Oz that has just put on the same rims and is running 30/9.5/15's. Heres a link to that http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=74875.
