4 Hi is the same as 4 Part Time, right?

4-Full time is not the same and is okay to use on paved dry roads.

um....haha that sucks....i use 4 hi sometimes on the road but never when i havent needed it. I hope thats from extended use and not just one time on dry pavement.....haha

That pics was from Jeep driven 150 miles in part time.But it can happen at anytime,I have seen a t-case shatter in 5 pieces from 10ft of travel,happened while backing up.

ok....i crawl out of my ditch and onto the pavement, I need 4wd PT to get out of the ditch and then I take it out of 4wd on the pavement after I already made it up. Am I risking to much here??

I never use part time, just full time. Don't mean to sound like an idiot, but what type of conditions would require the use of part time? I read the article and there doesn't seem to be any reason not to use full time correct? Thanks

i read the rest of that article

"Because part time 4WD and ABS do not mix, most manufacturers offered only rear wheel ABS on these vehicles since the rear axle needs ABS the most, due to the tendency to lock up first."

so thats why the first gen kia sportage only had a 2-channel rear axle ABS system. always wondered about that.

I've got the p-t/f-t case, selecttrac? i think it's the np 24?sumthing. used to only use p-t for off-road, as i felt it would keep me from getting stuck 'better'. this year, been playin in f-t more, and it does a helluva lot better than i realized!
i still don't think i could have a lob w/o both options tho...

Off-Road, Part-Time > Full-Time.

I actually almost crashed into a tree using Full-Time off-road once... I was trying to turn and the jeep (my girlfriend's cherokee) kept going straight :O

Scarey as hell.

i have done it once turning around on wet pavement...it still binds up when you turn the wheel trust me! I leaerned my lesson quickly!
