Go for it man! Whatever you like, or think you'll like, try it & make it your own. Most mods, especially like what we're discussing here, can be undone/redone in no time!

best part about any Jeep, making it "yours"

I caught them putting the stealership sticker on durring the "Dealer Prep" stage and told the guy doing it that i would hunt him down if he put that on my car.

Front license plate for the stealership went sailing into the trash as soon as I got home. I will be damned if i will advertise for them AND provide a spot for speed lasers if I don't need to. Thank god KY doesn't have front plates!!!!!

my speedo is off so when it says im doing 65, im really doing 57. i love it because it feels like im speeding but im actually not!

yeah, neither does PA. anytime at work I replace a front bumper, i have the office people call the customer to verify if they want the plate holder back on. I just hate putting a chunk of plastic where there shouldn't be one.

Texas is a front plate state - not I don't have a chrome "Jeep" logo plate on the front anyways. *I keep the second one in the netting in the back*

Any chance an old credit card would work on prying the "sport" off? Bought the "LOST Trail Rated Edition" badges that I plan to replace them with... just waiting 4-6 weeks for that delivery. By then Tx should be warm enough not to need a blow dryer to warm the panels up.

Off topic... got my Frankenlift II Prem in the other day... and i'm friggin chompin' at the bit for the shop to put that bad boy on!!!!!! *grrrr*

you really need to warm them up more than the sun usually also throw that lift on yourself, 3 hour job at most! wont have to wait, and save some bucks

One of the letters on my hood started getting discolored so I took them all off!

When I got my Jeep, all the Jeep letters, front and back where peeling. I was going to buy new ones. So I removed them all and decided I liked the clean smoothed look better. I used a heat gun, which is hotter than a hair dryer, and used a plastic razor. The plastic razor didnt scratch at all. I did them both in 20 minutes.

As for the residue, I used spray wax and a clay bar and it worked quite well. The paint was more glossy behind the letters, but I used the 3 step Mother's wax process a couple days later and everything blended in fine. I've noticed that the 4x4 and 3.7L emblems are starting to do the same thing...

Yeah. I did it the hard way. I just used my fingernails, and boy let me tell you. The area under my fingernails was killing me for a week.

WOULD NEVER use a heat gun, use only a hair dryer its hot enough without doing any damage to the paint!! Its so easy

I've been using it to remove dealer tags, etc for years without any problem. I do it daily at my job. If you keep it in one spot its obviously going to damage the paint. If you move it around, it makes the surface hot; no hotter than a car sitting in the sun all day. The trick is to heat the emblem, not the paint. My gun might be different than what you are thinking of, because its made specifically for this. And of course, dont use it on plastic bumpers.

I worked at a bodyshop and used a heat gun more then once to fix plastic bumbers.Works really great for those very large shallow dents also, heat the whole area up and then cool very quickly with ice water, bang the dent pops itself out(shrinks the metal),and if you do it right, and there is no creases in the metal,no painting is required.

You are right about being able to use heat guns to remove badges, used mine for that purpose and getting plastic trim pieces off(that where attached by double sided tape) to prep vehicles for paint(after repairing them).

I would hope most people just use a hair dryer, had a guy borrow my heat gun to debadge his Chevy a few years ago and burnt the paint real bad, then wanted to blame me! :? :?

So if you know what you are doing its fine to use a heat gun, but if you are not sure, just be safe and use a hair dryer, just as easy! To me its like using a 12 guage to shoot pigeons, works but over kill  BUT FUN!!

I've heard about fixing plastic bumpers with heat guns....never been brave enough to try it myself though :)

i did it on my subaru, one thing i don't think was pointed out was do not pull the badges off, make sure you use dental floss or fishing line like it was stated a few times and saw the glue off and don't pull. If you try to pull on the badge once it is heated it can pull the paint off with it.

u can use a heat gun, just dont hold it in one area for extended periods of time. move it around and youre not trying to melt the badges off, just enough heat to loosen them

Just wanted to share my debadging story. I was at a three hour long cheer leading practice for my daughter so....as I was standing there bored out of my skull I took out my credit card with the highest balance and used it to debadge the Renny.....came out great but I still had two and a half hours left of practice to sit through. (bent the card/left the Rennegade emblem on)
