i was asked bye acouple of people to post some pics on cutting out the flares and metal...so....
i can do this with 265/75/16 with no rubbing and factory bump stops...i think my lift is around 3.25 or 3.5...from center to wheel well is 22.5" front and rear...a 4 inch is around 23.5
Image
front thing to look at are the pinch welds...front plastic flare and metal tabs in the rear that can cut your tire
Image
Image
Image
Image
not a good pic...this is the pinch cut back and lower pan was cut out
Image
Image
plastic liner taken out
Image
i took out the rear liner and cut just the outer part out and placed it back in to protect the fuel lines and the tire from the metal seam...plus there are metal tabs to cut to stop the sutting of the outer tire
Image
Image
Image
also the door itself has a rubber seal that i kept there and placed another seal on the inner rear door...and the fenders were cut with a angle grinder and then sanded down...make sure you get new tabs for the flares to put the back on...keep all the old ones and use what you can...make sure you are ready to cut up your jeep before trying it...and this is only a guide on how i did it...

Yikes, nice job, but man; our rigs seem to require alot of pruning of wheel-well material just to accomodate just slightly larger tires.... It looks like it was a real PITA to do all that trimming... Good job though!

Do you have an extended 2 1/2 - 3" bump stop mounted on the rear spring perch?

actually pinch weld cutout is not a good idea - it helps hold the body together - I'd recommend you get it welded.

I definately wouldn't cut the pinch weld off. I banged mine in and sprayed it with black rustoleum. Looks stock except to those in the know :)

Hey ohv_kj -

Good post on the fender trimming. I did some trimming to mine over the weekend to fit new tires.

I noticed your rock guards over your foglights in the pics. I've been looking everywhere for wire guards for my factory foglights. Can you tell me where you got them?
