Easier to pull the flywheel, have the center machined to take a standard roller bearing, like the Cummins am flywheels - however, I suspect that they consider the wear\deterioration factor: if the bearing is bad, the d\m flywheel is also near the end of it's functional life, and not far behind.

It is a roller bearing that's molded into/pressed into the DMF. Either way, it's not easy to get out/replace w/o having a machine shop do it.

The old bearing ate the pressurefingers. I am surprised you were able to drive it at all.

Hey Tony, you checked my pics! :D

Yes, as I see it, it buffed the fingers, they were now nice and shiny at the tips LOL.

You must remember I was driven to fix as cheaply as possible and sell the thing before something else broke. If I had just followed the recommedation to replace the entire kit, I would have saved plenty in the long run.

Well I gave the KJ a nice bath this morning and took it off to see how much I could get for it. I am torn betwix two, I want to keep, but I am concerned about reliabilty and it bankrupting me in the future. If it can behave for 3 months I will be able to set aside a portion of cash to fix the next something should it arise, but if it fails on me within 3 months I will be stuffed.

Right now I am hoping they offer me less than the figure I have settled on for me to accept, then I am forced to keep it. Still no better vehicle. The KJ is awesome (even my bad behaved one).

To all who listened to my issues, gave advice, etc, thank you. Part of the fun of owning a Jeep is being part of the forum communities (all be it I have been mocked about my Jeep forums, the non-Jeepers believe we need forums because Jeeps are so problematic).
