Ok, Just Found Out That I Missed The SEGR by A few days  , Would still like one, bit don't want to pest as those guys seem busy taking care of business. If they have one to sell yet I'll take it

But unplugged maf today, and it seemed to drop in power, like I was towing the rock of shame

Now I've plugged back in , cleared code and it's runnin fine, but shifting goofy.

It's had f37 done by previous owner

By shifting goofy I mean It'll hit second, start making power, and just when It starts pushin me into the seat, it slides into third, and really cutting back on boost.

Does this have a learning drivetrain?

I go back to my gasser tech days and when a component in the system failed computer would go into a standby mode ,not giving full timing, fuel mapping etc. Is this true with these libby's?

Thanks

Yes. It does. At least the transmission does. Sometimes it needs a shrink to figure out why its feelings are hurt.

As for the goofy shifting:

The software allows it to push you back in the seat a bit-- but then kills the boost right before the shift-- then the power is reapplied when the shift completes. This is especially noticeable when a shift occurs under cruise control. When accelerating (resume) in cruise, the software has more control and opens the motor and boost up more. You can feel it push you back hard, then it stops, then it shifts, then the push returns.

You can also see this with a boost gauge. You see the boost start to spike (hits 20 to 22) and the boost goes back to 5 and then the shift happens-- then the boost comes back. This is the computer playing around with the power output-- otherwise you would not see that with an automatic. The turbo would keep boosting as long as you were on the pedal.

I have never heard of ORM reducing power however. That is a new one...

I noticed when I drove around with the ORM and plugged the MAF back in it seemed to run awesome. I just got tired of pluggin/unpluggin it I dont recall any goofy shifting though.

The usual suspect is in the duct between the airbox and the compressor inlet - unplug that connector for slightly improved power particularly in hot weather, but never a decrease in power - pics in CRD Tech section

I unplugged my MAF this weekend and duct taped the connectors. Noticed a very slight performance improvement. It is slightly "sharper" (not as mushy) coming off a cruise position. This makes sense and helped confirm to me that the EGR was closed. Did not notice any change in the transmission. The MAF connector is over on the air cleaner (black duct work between engine and air cleaner).

The ohter advantages are cleaner oil (not as much soot) and lower CAC temps for more power under boost. The good thing about the SEGR is the EGR gets a bit of exercise when in Park I believe.

nope the EGR NEVER gets power unless the bypass plug is plugged in... if you check out turbo tim's wiring guide there are 9 wires... wires 4 and 5 go to the EGR, but only wire 4 has anything going to it wire 5 is a dummy unless the bypass plug is in. wire 4 comes from the ECU wire 5 goes to the EGR, no bypass plug no power to EGR.

Has anyone tried unhooking the battery for a while to reset the fuzzy logic (learning)? If so, any noticeable change?

I unplugged the right one, But it seemed to kill power, I mean I can't fathomably see how it would kill power. but it shure as heck dove in the power dept. I dunno I'll clear CEL and try again, I shure as heck don't want any more soot in there, so even if it kills power for me , i might leave it unplugged.

Actually I did unhook battery , and took for a power drive, and it responded better ,the guy that had it before me said he took it easy on it, and i believe him, it wasn't beat on. so maybe it'll learn how i like to drive

Allright, I have to update.

After unhooking the bat and turning lights on and letting it sit for an hour. I reconnected the bat and drove 100 mi with the maf plug in.

Then i removed the plug and it didn't loose power this time. When it was plugged in I could hear the boost being lost at part throttle, now the pedal is more responsive , due to positive boost in intake.

And during the process while maf was plugged in during the 100 mi. I experienced the 50 MPH surge, which went totally away when i unplugged.

Moral of my story It'll stay unplugged, and I'll deal with cel till I can get on a SEGR list again.

Dude, you really need to build youself a sig, so we'll all know what you're driving, and which procedures to apply when responding (NOTE: don't copy mine!)

You can get the 40buck harborfreight Cobra CEL reader, which will read codes, then clear them - just leave it connected but don't ignore it - you might wanna be aware of some DTC's

I do have a snap on modis, I'll probably jus pick up that harbor one to keep hooked up and monitor.
