is there a large rack that fits the factory roof bars without having to purchase a set of cross bars?? I am not looking for a solid steel rack that weights 100 pounds.. just something that i can put a few suitcases on, some lights, camping gear etc....

yes, the jeep/mopar roof basket will fit the factory roof rails without any additional crossbars or special mounts

probably after the money spent on a jeep basket it would be cheaper to get some cross bars huh?

the Wilderness Sport Series rack also fits directly to the factory rails. both these options are not cheap though, $400-500 I think.

Defender racks makes a 4'x4'x4" rack that mounts directly to the rails(no crossbars needed),I had one for awhile till I got the RL Gecko Basket rack. There about $400 or so also.Very well built and HD racks, about 35lbs or so in the weight department, can hold over 300lbs.

A good rack that will last and is high quaility is not cheap. You can get cheaper racks but they are cheap for a reason.

while we are talking racks, anybody seen or used the Thule Xpedition rack? I already have the crossbars for my kayak racks so may go this way for that metal look on the Limited. but oh that price scares me! (just buy the Yakima basketcase, just buy the Yakima Basketcase, rinse, repeat) make a decision already geez I suck at this!

in the fabrication forum area, a bunch of guys went out to home depot and grabbed some steel bars, U bolted them to the racks, painted them black/plasti-dipped them and slapped the racks right on. pretty neat stuff, here is the link. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=20952
