I know that this really isnt the place to post this but it will get the most veiws here. So anyway here it is about a year ago a group of people in Ireland; more specifically the guiness corperation; got together. Their goal was to make St patrick's day a national holiday. Not a national holiday for Ireland, but national holiday for us; americans. Now withany goverment legistation it has to be apprved my the majority or at least a percentage of it before it will even be considered by congress. An that's the point its at now. In order to be considered it has to have 1 million signatures before midnight tonight 16 mar 2008 in order to be considered. Now there are a lo of people that dont even know about this even though it is all over the internet. So the amount of signatures collected is well below the mark that is needed. So take part in your countrys government and sign the petition to make st pattys day a national holiday. The website for the petition is http://www.proposition317.com

Let's see: George Washington & Abe Lincoln get their days basically stripped, and some foreign corp. wants to make a U.S. holiday to celebrate a religious figure who drove the "serpants" (pagans) out of Ireland?

Even if this is not B.S., even if it is not the obvious P.R. campaign it is, and even if it stood a snowball's chance if it was for real, I could not imagine a worse precedent to be set. Heck, people will get just as drunk & stupid celebrating this "holy feast day" with or without a holiday, why should the government or corporate America have to subsidize it?

Come on; some things shouldn't need Snopes to show you it is fake. Have you ever seen a process for putting something on a NATIONAL ballot by petition? Isn't it convenient that the petition (ad campaign) ends when the day begins anyway? Someone would have to have started "celebrating" a bit early to buy this....

I tend to agree after all Holloween my favorite time is bases off of a pagan ritual. But on the same note I would rather celebrate ST. Patrick Day then ST. Valentines Day or as I prefer {Singles Awareness Day}. At least with ST. Patricks Day everybody can have fun , But with Valentines Day you have to have a signifiacnt other :!:  :!:
