So how did you avoid F45 for the body control module running down the battery, F31 for third party scanners not working and the one for the ball joints? And No I've never owned a Jananeese car thanks. I got my crd in May 06

You got me on the ball joints, I'd forgotten that one. The other two I never got a notice for, perhaps my manufacture date was later than yours despite buying it earlier? They aren't outstanding when I check...

If the vehicle sat on the lot, the dealers were doing the recalls before they were sold. As my
06 was in for service, mechs were working on unsold units doing recalls.

Thanks,

Next question. For those who haven't had the F37 done on an 06. What are the numbers on the TCM? I may have found someone to help me. My TCM ends in AI. I want to find out what versions didn't have the F37.

From the above link, it looks like the AF version is good. Is that correct?

I purchased my CRD Nov. 05 as a 06 Model. When it was made, don't have a clue,
but my TCM last numbers are AG
One has to remember though when they changed out the TC, it would not accept the flash
from the star. Programming would load to like 95% and than hang.
Dealer supposedly replaced the ECM but who knows what else they replaced while at it.

Didn't sit on the lot, arrived the day I bought it. These things were hot in the Seattle area, they basically sold the day they arrived everywhere around here.

Manufacture date was Nov of 05(06 model), purchase was mid-Jan of 06. No idea if those updates were already applied, but like I said, I never got a notice for them.

Like I said earlier, If the Jeep site said no updates needed. All probably done before you got it.
No need to get into it, but you got it or you didn't get it. If you didn't get the updates, 1. You never went to the dealer.
2. You never went to the dealer

Just my thought, take it like it is!!!!!!!

The month and year of production is on the sticker on the drivers door. As I recall those that had your flashing problem the replacement TCMs were updated.

Since everyone is here in one place, what exactly did they update in the TCM when they molested it with the F37? What were the old shift points and parameters?

I've been noticing lately on mine (with F37) that it will prefer to maintain the engine at 2500+ rpm instead of shifting, even when I lift off the throttle to try and force the shift. My Jetta would drop a gear if I lifted off the throttle, it was almost like controlling a manual. I desire the shift, it responds. But the KJ seems to be programmed to prefer heating transmission fluid instead of locking from 3rd on up, or shifting when possible.

Is this new behavior, or the same way its always been? I sure would like to be able to have it upshift as soon as possible to maintain the engine in the <2000 range... I'm guessing that will have to be with a lower stall Suncoast eventually, but will the TCM even allow it with these speed-only (it seems like) shift points?

My CRD has had 3 shift patterns since new. Not knowing I was going to get "shifted" I didn't make exact mental notes of how it shifted each tme :? I've never gotten really expected fuel mileage. My hightest is 25 and averags is 20.
I had the first firmware only 2 weeks and all I remember was it shifted too early on interstates and droaned badly  Changed when they flashed the BCM, F45 maybe in June 06.
Second While starting off it prefered 2300 tll I let off then it would try to maintain about 1700 RPM's :D and final shift point of 62 mph.
Third, June 07 when I got F31, It revs to red line, 4k rpm's, when I mash on it  But it still tries to maintain 1700 under light peddle.

Build date on my CRD was 4/2006. It was bought in November so it was already flashed before it was bought. It was never listed on the F37 recall. I wonder if it has the new style TC pump? Anyway, here are my numbers. I will get the rest tonight.

Sometimes the date code will also be there in standard format = 07/06/05 is 6 Aug 05 - if not, the code is hidden in one of the other numbers - need all the number strings on the tag

Thanks - here's how it works out

- your ECM is p\n P56044776BB, flashed and tagged for stock the 100th day of '05

- your TCM is p\n P56044737AG (Duh!), flashed and tagged for stock the 211th day of '05 at 28mins past midnite

And, it's that simple, folks - read'em at yer liesure - read'em fer fun and profit ..................

Note - Ive started two threads in the CRD TECH section: one to document dash guage\scanner functions
and another for this type datum -

DO NOT INCLUDE ANY VIN DATA, for security reasons

So that means that CRD Liberty's KJ hasn't been molested by the F37?

I'll go pull mine in a few minutes.

On my '06, I am not on the list for the F37 but the F31 certainly changed the power output. I suspect the torgue reduction was in the F31 as well as the F37. So if your catch had the F31, you may not gain anything.

F31 was the fix for a problem caused by a earlier flash to the TCM. In my case I think it was a "quiet" flash done to the TCM when I got the F45 for the BCM. Then F31 corrected the problem and further changed the TCM but what appears to be the original sticker lists my TCM as AI and vag-com says it's currently AJ or just one upward.

I am completely lost here.
I had the TC recall done, but they had problems with the programming of it. Is what you just said possible?
Is my TCM a virgin or what??

When I bought this vehicle, I liked the idea of the diesel, seeing as I have a Class A CDL as well
but the first year of recalls I had no idea what a ECM or a TCM or anything else was.

Thanks

Steve

I've seen many TCM\ECM with an additional tag (or several) stating AUTHORIZED SOFTWARE UPDATE with two long barcodes and several number strings, incl the VIN # - other than that, there should be similar tags located somewhere on the vehicle, indicating TSB reflash to current level if done in the service bay - the module tag would show as-shipped revision because the reflash tag was not placed on the module - in this case, whatchoo see is whatchoo got, not - 'nuther words:

I can not find any additional stickers anywhere. As you know I had problems with this thing.
It sat for a week or so not in a running mode at the dealer. Yes, I had contacted the local
Chrysler rep to get this thing resolved.
They got it running and all is fine. What was replaced I do not know.
Come on gmctd.
Suppose they just replaced the tcm with another that they didn't flash?
This is driving me crazy now.
Thanks

Steve

Both of your modules show julian date-codes correlating to the build date - the reflash tag is part of the TSB, and must be placed on the module, or maybe on one of the headlites, for the lazy tech that don't like deezuls, anyway - only way to tell at this point is with a scantool - those ECM number strings are rather ambiguous, tho - the julian date-code can be seen on the TCM label in the S\N string: it's the four numbers after the alpha characters, 2115 = 211th day of 05 - should look similar on the ECM, so maybe the ECM was replaced - those four middle numbers in the last series look suspiciously like 185 of 06, but still would have had to be to then-current TSB level when they installed it during your recent service-bay stay, so still not representative of any current revision level.

Mfg. date 8-05
ECM P56044 776BB 0281012595
061005 1039517292
69005 1856 0021

TCM P/N P56044737AG
S/N TOATH2115A113F 00:28:05

That's good as I can do from your numbers - scantool will take it from there
