Question regarding the ORM. Hopefully this does not sound like a dumb question. If you
unplug the MAF sensor to turn off the EGR circuit, is it possible for the boost of the turbo to
feed back through the EGR valve? This question is predicated on not having the SEGR kit
installed.

Thanks.

You will notice a very slight increase of diesel clatter and a little longer to have the engine warm up since you are not heating the coolant with the EGR cooler. Your fuel gauge will not go to E as fast and you will have some more power at times when the EGR would be open. The EGR valve is designed to hold back more than the full boost pressure and it is closed when under full acceleration any way. Biggest pain is the CEL which will be shut off by the SEGR kit. I thought I have read that those who have had emissions tests with Biodiesel have passed with out the EGR working. They don't do tests anymore in my location. Buy a cheap OBII tool to shut off the CEL if you need to.

Does the MAF sensor have other functions?
How about elevation changes? Or is that a MAP?
Is a Scangage II an OBII device?

MAF is strictly EGR control - MAP is Baro at WTS and Boost while running, plus Intake Air Temp at all times

Scanguagedotcom for particulars in that matter

The EGR is not completly closed using the ORM. It is slightly powered off it's mechanical stop. It does not move any more than that due to the unplugged MAF providing no feedback to the ECM hense the CEL. The AFC is not completely open either as it also is slightly powered off it's stop as well. Back when Tim pioneered the ORM/SEGR circuit, he found that unplugging the MAF, EGR, and AFC produced the best results and designed the ORM/SEGR so that the EGR stays completely closed and the AFC stays completely open, except on shutdown when the AFC is put back in service to aid in a smooth engine shutdown.

The MAF is a single loop device so it does not control any other functions. SEGR is definitely the way to go...better performance and no CEL.

How far does the pin in the EGR solenoid move? What kind of codes would a spacer 1/6" thicker stroke cause?
