Death will come soon enough no doubt.

Called 2 used parts locators and maybe a harness in Massachusetts if they get picked.

When the pump comes in I will go to dealership and ask for a C307 and 3 male and female pins.

How long are those wires to the cabin connector? Read through 12 pages because I though I saw it mentioned on a bananna leaf wiring display but could not find it. About that long?........ Maybe.

My stock CRD 05 harness was approximately 66" so the gas version I bought was around 60", or six inches to short.

Also, there are three plug-ends on the gas harness verses two on the CRD. However, the extra connector end on the gas harness uses the same connector pins as the fuel tank connector. One stripped gas harness has enough connectors for three lift pump conversions....

If anyone is interested, I had purchased the 06 Gas harness to use with my lift pump. I transfered the wires from the gasser's harness to the CRD's. I have one set of wires (blue sending unit wires), with the male end on one end, and the female on the other. So enough to do one conversion. I also have a set (purple) that has the two female connectors, but just one of the male (i clipped it accidentally) which would work for a conversion too since you could use the clipped one for the ground wire. If anyone wants them, PM me and I will drop them in an envelope and send them. I also have a bunch of the female pins for the main harness connector in the cabin, so if you want those too let me know. I'll leave you a little wire hanging to solder to.

Craig

clday25 in reading this, will the '05 gasser harness 56050284AB work as is, without
extending the wires. All I need is to be in the middle of this and have to extend the
harness becase it won't reach the tank. You would think 5 ft would be adequate
to reach the tank, if it is starting from under the rear seat no?

If anyone is curious as to why exactly the 05 gasser harness is 6 inches shorter than the 05 CRD harness take a look at the 80mb .pdf 05 kj service manual. It has pics of both fuel tanks with R&R instructions. The gasser wiring plug is on the front side of the tank vs. the CRD which is top-middle.

How thick? Not me, the wire?
Should I use a 5 ampere fuse or a little higher?

18-16ga would be suitable - the circuit is fused and relay'ed from DCJ: look in the power box under the hood - all you need add is the wire and the lift pump

GMCTD

Are you saying that we should not use the left over wires from other installs that may have been originally used for the fuel sender for the lift pump power due to it not being able to supply 5 amp current without a problem because of wire size? If this is true, I guess all we need to do is solder a heavier wire to the pin ends and install them in the proper plug locations. This would not be that hard to do especially if we have to add a splice to a 60" wire anyway. It would just be a 66" splice instead of a 6" splice. I would not mess with that if I receive a 66" wire with ends attached and it is of proper size to handle the 5 amp current.

Correct, Scott - the fuel guage sender wires are ~22ga, not even suitable for powering the lift pump - note the larger size of the Grn\Or lift pump supply wire in the main harness, compared to the others - that sizing should be continued to the fuel module connector - soldering should be sufficient, long as the weatherseal at the fuel module connector is maintained

My technique is to close-cut the original wire at the terminal - spread the insulation strain-relief clamp ears enuff to remove the insulation, leaving the crimped wire strand ends - strip the new wire back just enuff to mesh the new strands with the orig strands still in the terminal, reform the insulation clamp around the intermeshed wire-ends, then solder over the clamp\wires - makes a strong reliable connection, allows the new wire insulation to be weathersealed in the connector shell - looks oem production-line quality-control fit and finish

Try it - you'll like it..................

This is exactly how I reused the factory terminals for my EVIC install. I couldn't uncrimp the original crimped portion, so I reused the strain relief as a new crimp. With a little solder and some close attention to keeping things nice and tidy, you can reassemble everything back to a factory fit and finish.

Here is a pic of the original pigtail terminal, before I cut into it. See where the strain relief is crimped over the insulation? Snip near there, and you can slide that insulation right off the wire. That gives you plenty of space to add more wire. I actually raised the existing wire up and shoved the new wire underneath. gmctd went all fancy-pants and meshed the new strands in with the old.

Here's a picture of the finished result. The wire coming right out of the connector block looks factory.

I got a message from Moparpartsamerica this morning that said the order has been shippped complete with the new '05 Gas harness so some must have been made available recently. We will see when it arrives. If this happens, I will have extra end pins that I can mail to those that need them. I will keep this thread updated.

FWIW... i am doing this in two steps... i installed the wires in the harness under the
seat today... ran them through the hole to the outside... electrical taped the ends
of the wire coiled it up and secured it between the Fuel rails and the body.

now when i get the fuel pump i just thread it through the rest of the loom and insert
into the connector.and go with it.

I am getting ready for my install this weekend.

I am putting in a new 06 harness.

While getting ready, I have tried to get the existing ABS sensor connectors loose... but without success.
I managed to get the little red tab pulled back... but the connector seems to be retained somehow. Am I just not pulling hard enough or is there some secret to these mopar connectors?

Thanks

Yes, there is a secret, and I'll tell ya, but mum's the word, ok?, said he, furtively looking around.

Pull the red locking tab back, push the connector in, depress the little black tab above the red lock, pull the connector out - may have to push the black tab down with a screwdriver, but the trick is to push the connector in while doing so - this is the correct method to use an all the DCJ connectors - push in, unlatch, pull out

Remember: mum's the word......................

I completed the 06 pump install with the 06 gasser harness.

I have compiled wiring info at

http://picasaweb.google.com/bill.barg/J ... 3417643842

I believe it is right, and has some corrections to GMCTD's march 25th post on the subject of 06 wiring for the lift pump.

Using the 06 gasser harness with no additional wires, just pin swaps;

Pin 1 to Pin 8 (fuel Sender)
Pin 3 to Pin 9 (fuel sender)
Pin 10 to pin 11 (LR ABS)
Pin 11 to pin 10( LR ABS)

stp2136 noted a descrepancy for the LR ABS wires but I did not find this to be true. Maybe this is due to the missing number 11 on the connector?

Also... the gasser harness is 4 or 5 inches shorter than the CRD.

And, the fuel gauge is reading 25% high, making the low fuel warning light non functional. this needs to be fixed, but how?

I will post pictures soon.

I also used a modified '06 gasser harness. The fuel gage wires in 1 and 3 move to 8 and 9 as you say but the LR speed sensor wires in mine had to move from 11 and 12 to 10 and 11. I also swapped the RR speed sensor polarity to keep it the same as original. The polarity of the speed sensors probably doesn't matter but it is easy enough to change.

BTW I notice the new fuel gage seems to be about 1/4 tank too optimistic compared to original--first time I filled it after the new pump install I put in 16 gal when the gage was showing 7/16 left??? I may swap out the fuel float/sensor--I see it just snaps into place in the assembly.

Only advantage I can see to swapping in the V6 harness complete, as opposed to merely installing the fuel module connector and wiring in the CRD harness, is you get additional wires for future options - also appears to be some unused wires in the CRD rear cabin harness, but I've not checked out the circuit source.

There's at least two wires that might be there for trailer towing as they're in the front but not the back. One is a always on 12 volt source for the trailer battery and source voltage for the trailer parking light relay that's part of the trailer harness. There's a fuse in the power distribution panel in the front and a wire running through the firewall. The second one I'm looking for is the "switched 12 volt" signal for the relay controling the trailer battery line. There's a fuse for it in the fuse panel by the drivers door.

I was not able to trace them using the fsm and suspect they're under the seat also. The harness going rearward is different on RHD export models and we may have part of it.
