There is a very simple way to stop the liberty from counting miles. I used to do it in my TJ all the time. Trips from NJ to pittsburgh for college only counted 5-10 miles. Only problem, it that you also can't tell how fast you are going, or how much gas you have. I had no isssues when I did it in the TJ, but with the KJ it ended up not being safe, because of the advanced computer monitoring and input from various parts of the drivetrain and engine it had some adverse effects that would pop up while driving. I will not go into detail about how to do this or what happens.
On another note, when i was in HS, my parents were going to take me to a friends house. All my friends lived like 30-45 min away because of where I went to school. My dad wanted to see if driving backwards would take mile off the lexus. He drove around the block(1.2 miles) twice at like a snails pace. Man I was pissed, I was late getting there and my friends already went to do stuff.
