I did it. Still needs some cleanup and fog lamps but no more rubbing, no more trashed fog lamps hangin' way down low.

I think that falls under the "if you don't have something nice to say...." catagory.

Matt...nice job. Jeep should have made that bumper right in the 1st place. For all the doo doo that gets talked about H2's and H3's....take a look at their bumpers...WAY BETTER approch angle than ours.

Way more fun to be had w/out the stoopid bumper in the way ! Denese won't let me cut hers...so I bought my own Jeep

Thanks Jeff. Got tired of mangling my fog lamps on every Moab crack that came along. . Also listening to Laura grimace each time the tires rubbed in the front.

This'll do until some nice lightweight aftermarket bumper comes along. Don't need a heavy bumper with winch mount with this set up.

Why are you 02-04 guys messing up your beautiful bumpers? I really wish the 05 bumpers looked like that; the new plastic ones are stupid

I love it! I don't think it is messed up at all. I will be getting another KJ next Fall and I think I will be doing that to it.

Why don't you photoshop a brush guard onto it and see for yourself?

Those beautiful plastic bumpers are crap with 4" backspace Cragar wheels on it. Scrapin' and rubbin'. Besides this is my idea of beauty.

Looks really cool. What did you use to cut it. My friend has one of those Roto-Zip thingy's. I mocked it until I saw him make a nice cut on his boat to put in a cooler in and it made a really nice edge.

DeWalt 18 volt reciprocating saw with a fine edge blade made short work of it.

Receiver winch cradle is the way to go. Can use it front and back on both my KJ and XJ. Note connector on the driver's side. Thanks to Clint for the tip on that one. Cradle from Mile Marker needed work. Note the solenoid box had to be rotated. Also receiver hole was in the wrong place so had to drill one.

That's the best hack job I've seen yet (no offense to prior hackers). What did you use to cut the plastic? The fender flares are nicely done too.

It also looks good in red for some reason.

I just can't bring myself to do this (yet). I am hoping for that lightweight bumper still. Holding breath here. Turning... blue... and ... purple.

My bumper is so cracked up anyway, I may was well cut it.

Where did you put the washer fluid tank? Got pics of that too?

Red is the best color for KJs

Washer is tucked in behind that verticle bit on the pass side bumper. I've got a K&N FIPK so there's room to relo it up there but I might just put a plate over it and leave it where it is. That is, if it doesn't get destroyed this weekend...

Alas, the jeep really belongs to my parents so I can't do that :( . Maybe if a more "roadish" bumper comes out sometime soon I could install that.

My thoughts exactly

"I don't want you to do anything to that car that will make you roll it over"

"Mom who do you think I am; you?"
