Seeing as how gas prices will be out of sight that weekend, I don't see paying additional land use permit fees, when Harlan doesn't charge fees, do they?

I see your point. Do you think that will reduce the Safari Attendance?

Hard to say...maybe for some. It is $17 per person for the land use fee at Coal Creek but the camping fees are close. When we see high(er) fuel prices....that sure will be a prime time for them.

Gas just jumped to $3.43 per gal. in my area.
No fees to wheel Harlan.

OK, so I was about set to commit to Harlan, and now you're talking Coal Creek. Which is it?

So far, and this is just me, I think we should maintain Harlan as the choice right now before too much confusion happens.

I just put a reservation in at the campsite for that weekend.

What time does everyone want to convene on the 24th? We gonna try wheeling that day?

I would hope we can get a good run or 2 in that day. We are shooting for around 10am or so for an arrival.

Most of the way? Hun, you know if you let me drive some we'll get the whole way.

As a bonus, you can sleep while I'm driving and be perfectly rested for wheeling on Saturday. I think we could be there by 3 AM.

How difficult of trails will this be? I'd be interested in meeting some of the people from this board, but I don't have a hardcore trail rig. Just have the factory skids and lsd with the mods below. I'm also not setup for deep water and my KJ is a daily driver.

The trails range from easy to ahhh, forget it. Most of us have not been there yet so it will be a venture for all. The maps with trail ratings will come in handy.

For any Off-Road event, front and rear tow hooks are mandatory :!:

I've got a shackle for the rear tow hitch, but I don't have anything for the front. I'm going to talk to a guy that does a really good job with hitches about either fabbing up a front receiver hitch that I can plug a shackle into, or fabbing up a way to have the front tow hooks and brush guard at the same time.

After talking with a fellow member who got some good information in regard to Harlin this is what I have to add...while Harlan is a great place to wheel Memorial Weekend is THE worst weekend we could go. They evidently have BBQ's and free food for patrons as this is the "official" start of their season. Everyone and their bother shows up there. Add to that the one local (to Harlan) member that really knows his way around there is M.I.A.. I propose we re-think the date of this outing...talk amounst yourselves :)

I don't even go to Wellsville on Holiday weekends, the trails get way to congested and it increases the probabilty of a quad or dirtbike coming through your windshield when going over blind mounds. It has happened numerous times and the parents just let their kids loose on their machines without any supervision whats so ever.

NOT THAT I COULD GO  but I would really rethink that weekend. When we were talking to Terry of T.K.H. Fab who runs all the parks in that area a lot he stated that Memorial Day weekend would not be a good idea. Too many holiday partiers, not worth getting in the middle of all of that.
I agree thats when most of us could go but not worth it IMO.
