Has anyone relocated their stock radio antenna?? It just seems like there should be a better spot for it. . . Maybe switch it to a roof-top euro-style one.

Any thoughts??

I'm working on that very project as soon as tax money comes in. I am currently searching for a Power Antenna out for a 1977 Cadillac Eldorado. Why you may ask? Well that particular model of power antenna was an AM/FM/CB Power Antenna  I intend on installing it into the rear pillar of the KJ with the antenna coming out just behind the roof rack. If the area in the rear pillar is to tight for Caddy antenna. My second option is this one :

http://www.jcwhitney.com/AM-FM-RADIO-PO ... _10101.jcw

From J.C. Whitney. Then I will install LED amber lights just over the old antenna's hole in the fender like the European models. The Caddy one if I can make it work will be trick and have my KJ closer to going off road with communication. I did see one on Flea-Bay , but the seller claims he doesn't know if it works all sales are final and wants $160.00 for an antenna thats possibly junk from the get go. So the search is on and if all else fails I know the Remote antenna from Whitney will fit in the rear pillar, with the motor mounted in the side panel. I even have a radio shop who will do it all with the lights, CB, and I'll supply the Antenna if need be.

Maybe just a shorter antenna in the same location? I replaced the stock antenna on an old pickup with one of those flexible units that was half the height and didn't notice any difference in reception.

your probably better off going t a junkyard to find one. Im going to out in a few big one in the next week or so so ill take a look. If i find the assembly and talk my guys down a bit ill pick it up if its resonable(under 70 bucks). An they all come with 2 month warrentys.

If I can't find the ever illusive AM/FM/CB , I will go with the AM/FM Remote antenna shown on JC Whitney. with it's remote design it will work in our KJ's with greast ease. I would still love to have the additional CB option. But hasving a hard to locate an antenna idea is my total goal.

Any CB radio antenna will work for receiving AM/FM stations. You just have to get a coax splitter to split between the AM/FM radio and the CB

My only problem with the stock antenna is from time to time the reception is extremely poor. The whole idea of a roof type power antenna with AM/FM/CB capabilitys tilts the Cool factor for me. My stock antenna is totally unexceptable. Which is why I am looking to perform this modifications.

I have contacted AC/Delco and other after market sources and will continue. AS with most Jeep owners we all want to do something that leaves other saying where the HE11 did you get that. The KJ has so many options I will persue all I can to acheive my goal.
