I went to both the ACE and Home Depot near my house and the largest hose they had there was 7/8" ID. So I went the glued adapter route. I figured RTV would allow for some vibration absorption - would be less brittle than JB weld. I'll just keep an eye on it and see.
I also just let mine hang loose (ran a tie-wrap around it just in case but w/ the hood down it isn't going anywhere).
That's strange, they might have been out of stock. Home Depot and Lowes both carry all the way up to 1 1/4" ID nylabraid in my area.
I don't know about the RTV, I tried sealing some of the fittings with high temp copper RTV when I tried another type of CCV filter (Condensator), and whatever was in the oil just turned it to mush!
Also, I had a 90 degree PVC pipe elbow with female pipe thread in both ends, that I had nylon hose adapters screwed into. Every few days, I'd notice that the fittings had come loose, and I'd have to tighten them another turn, until eventually they were bottomed out and the elbow itself started to fall apart. The oil had attacked and softened the PVC elbow until it failed.
