This is a follow-up on the two installs I made on my own CRD'S.Both vehicles are running flawlessly.Actual calculated fuel mileage on one is at 29.6, up from 25.This was on one tank .The current fill is following in the same footstep's,maybe better.Haven't checked the other jeep but results are similar.
Excellent performance. Too bad I have to drive it"off road"all the time. Thanks team.

Yea - mileage while crawling over rocks on a 20-degree incline; yours may vary!

A little more seriously, perhaps there's enough running 'out there' to justify a SEGR benefits/mileage/performance thread to capture real-life results?

I got my complete kit from UFO yesterday. I installed it this morning and it seems to be doing just fine after three small trips. Instructions were excellent. I also installed an EHM along with a fuel bleeder kit today.
Thanks goes to Dennis and Nathan (Loco and UFO) for their hard work. Thanks guys!!!

Yes I got it completely assembled with the pigtail all ready to be spliced in. I'm a full time student so I've learned not to waste any time. The reason I got it done so fast was the instruction were perfect. and that was a good thing b/c two minute after I finished, it started pouring rain.

Installed my SEGR kit last Saturday, (UFO did the assembly) done about 300 miles and according to the computer averaging 31 miles per U.S. gallon since the install. Vehicle is running great, the best it has ever run. My CRD ran particularly badly with the EGR, almost stalling when pulling away from standstill. I had no idea what was causing the problem until I found this site and unplugged the MAF and realised that the MAF/EGR combination was causing my problems.
So I would like to say a big THANK YOU to LocoCRD, UFO and all others involved with the SEGR project, Because without it I would have sold the CRD it ran so badly.

Happy to here it. If you know of anybody else up your way with a CRD, please pass on the SEGR info.

I am new to this board but have been reading for hours now. It sounds like I would be crazy NOT to install the Synthetic EGR kit!! First, thanks to you and all the others who have been working over a year to do the research, collaboration, and testing to produce this ORM. I applaud your efforts!! Without further ado, how do I get a kit and it sounds like UFO is selling tested kits with extensive documentation..correct? Who do I pay and how/where to I pay?

PS - I have been running a 2005 Liberty CRD in Austria since July 2005 at 100 and 105 mph on the Austrian, Italian, and German autobahns while on assignment for the USG but now have it back in the good ole USA. Love that CRD. The DC factory in Graz, Austria makes the same vehicle but branded as a Cherokee but is identical to the Liberty.

Installed the SEGR kit that UFO assembled for me. It took me about three hours. So far everything appears to work and not work as expected. :) Big thanks to LocoCRD and UFO.

I got the second run version of the SEGR installed about 4.000 miles ago. No problems until last week. The truck began a vibration upon decelerating. I thought it might be TC but sifting to nuetral while decelerating did not change it. It finally sent a P0402 code indicating EGR problem. I cleared the code, plugged in the jumper, and drove it to town. Initially, it still had the vibration but no codes came up. By the time I got to town (10 Mile +/-) the problem was cleared up completely. I plugged back into the SEGR and no problem so far.

I am wondering if, since the EGR has no power when the SEGR is in the circuit, the valve could work itself open causing some exaust gas in the intake at all times and could cause the vibration discribed. By plugging in the bypass plug, the normal operation of the EGR may have ended up closing the valve again and all is well. Thanks to the CEL code directing my attention in that direction, it may have been easily solved. I was thinking TC, brake rotors & pads, u-joint replacement, bad tire, etc. without much thought to the EGR. I don't know if this is possible but something caused the vibration and CEL code that went away soon after installing the jumper plug and remains solved after putting the SEGR back on line. Maybe we need to plug in the bypass, for a short time, once in a while. Any other ideas? :?:

That EGR valve has one huge spring on it. I doubt that it weaseled open.
The circuit works great and has on many other CRD’s. I wonder if something else is triggering your CEL. Maybe the MAF is on the edge, or possible there was some crap stuck in the EGR when it was shut off the last time. Also air in the fuel is known to do all kinds of weird stuff.
Clear the codes and see if it comes back. If it does, post on the forum here and we’ll figure something out.

Tim,
I have not had a single issue with it since I installed last February until last week. It was totally fixed by inserting the bypass plug and driving it a short ways. The SEGR circuit was reconnected and no CEL and no shaking upon deceleration since then. If it was not the EGR, it would be quite a coinsidence. I could clean the MAF again and replace it if you think it could have caused the problem. It is running great, gets 27 - 28 mpg and no CEL even pending. I'm happy :D

I’m more inclined to believe the AFC (Air Flow Control) valve stuck or might be giving you problems. If the EGR could sneak open just a tad, all that would happen is you would lose some performance, not shaking or shuddering. Now the AFC will choke the engine and if it totally closes, it will shut the engine off. If partially closed could cause the shuddering you felt.
Most of the EGR codes (CEL’s) apply to both units, the EGR and AFC, as both are needed together to make the EGR system work.

If the problem returns after you clear the codes, you might want to check the AFC by pulling the air hose off where it connects to the engine, look in there and see if the butterfly moves freely.

Tim, I wonder if the relay contacts in the SEGR may be wearing. I've tested more than 60 boxes, and some of them get up to 1 ohm, most less than 0.5. It could the one component that limits the life of the design.
