I'm curious. What trails are going to be run? I've run two that go from south of Young a few miles on 288 that take you down the mountains into Punkin Center....

To be 100% honest I have never done that trail! I was going to take everyone to Spring Creek though just because it is amazing and has a bunch of abandoned mines... Other than that I was going to take them kind of around what used to be my property and see if the waterfalls are going with all the run-off. I am up for ideas if you want to do that trail though. Vern was talking about wanting to do FR 133 to Hells Gate.

Your plan sounds good and interesting with plenty of photo ops. We'll follow you!!!

Well I spent today battling the Jeep. I was winning till I broke an intake part. Ran to Home Despot and got there at 8:50. Just enough time to buy some brass fittings and rig up a fix. Just got done and I will be heading up with MP40 and AZKJ.

Good night, er morning. and see you today.

What can I say... this was a fun trip. Thanks Bethany for setting it up!!!

We had six KJ's and Vern's new Rubicon. We didn't do much wheeling. Instead Bethany lead us on a short, rocky trail to her old swimming hole, Spring Creek, just outside the small out of the way town of Young, AZ. We meet a bunch of new people on this trip along with some old friends. You couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to spend the day with.

At the end of the day we made our way back to town and stopped by Antler's Cafe for a cool one and something to eat.

Here are a few pics.

Neatus and his potato launcher (it sent a potato flying a good 150-200 yards across Spring Creek....

It was a really fun day. We hope to see everyone again soon!!!

Well I had a great time, made me really miss the times I would get to go almost every weekend... I only have a few pics but I think Vern took a good amount too!

On the rocky road to Spring Creek (Vern in his new Rubicon Unlimited)

Another picture of the swimming hole at Spring Creek

I don't think he brought a big enough skillet...

Sunday Neatus and I were not quite ready to leave so we hiked down Haigler Creek a bit further and found this beautiful sight

She loves climbing up rocks, it is just the whole getting back down thing she is not too fond of...

Hope you all enjoyed the trip and would like to explore Young a bit more!! Glad to see those who came, if you couldn't make it hopefully next year/time!

Finding camp on Saturday night was not so bad....Neatus just bumped along the dirt roads headed toward Haigler Creek in the dark of night...his rear locker helping him fishtail around each washboard ridden bend...then he decided to turn off the roof lights and kill the headlights......... The bright moon lit the forest and revealed the steep mountain ledge he was carelessly riding along! Neatus slowed down and made it to camp with Vern and Bethany flagging him down. Beers were had by all :D

Ummmm anyway...it was an absolutely great time. We camped, Jeeped, got carded by hard core Loretta at the Cherry Creek store, swam in nipple hardening waters, made hash browns in an interesting way, drank a few at the local pub, went to the dedication of a new fire truck in Young, had some of Vern's Knob Creek, ate breakfast out of a big booty pan and over all....hung out with some great people.

Thanks Bethany for arranging this run in such a beautiful place...I have already told my friends and family and they want to see it next time.

Can I just have a peanut butter n jelly? I don't care how much it costs!

p.s. I found my camera...it was nice and clean in my washing machine when I got home

It never fails!! when I got to work Friday night, the dispatcher told me that my loads wouldn't be in until 12:15am. I should have left Holbrook at 8:45pm!!! Everytime I want to leave early Sat. morning this happens. :x   But, on the up side, I start a new bid today and my new swap driver is never late!!! :D

OK, someone tell me where Spring Creek is. When I finally got home Sat. Teresa, the dogs, and myself headed down to Young. I thought well, maybe by chance we can find everyone. We came by the Haigler Creek campground and then down to Young. Stopped at the store and had a cold drink, and seen a group of sand cars(buggies) there, then when up to FR133 as it was posted that Vern wanted to run it to Hells Gate, Got to the start of the road and there were only two sets of tracks in the dirt and not jeep tracks. We couldn't find Spring Creek on either of my maps to look there. We neandered around until around 5;00pm and gave up. Sorry we couldn't find everyone but, we still had a good time.

Oh man!! I wish we would have caught up with you! Spring Creek is kind of off the map, that is why I took everyone there... You get there by taking FR484. I am sorry we didn't see you! Next time though, if everyone enjoyed it we will make this an annual trip. We can do a new run everytime too cause there are SO many trails up there. Next time we will make the short trip up to the Indian Ruins!

Neatus- Did we even look to see ow much they charged for that do it yourself PB & J??? That stinks about your camera... good excuse to get that one Vern has!!

Well looks like yall had a great time....I went out and did some wheeling too down here, went through the Kofa Wildlife Refuge. They have quite a few trails you can take to hiking paths and mines that you can explore if your daring enough. Was a great time. Unfortunately I didn't bring a camera with good batteries so I was unable to get photos....but 2 hours off road was nice compared to the pavent pounding I've been doing...Looking forward to the next time I can meet up with yall again!!!

Got busy with work- my line of work is REAL busy around popular holiday weekends and been putting out tons of extra hours and did not have a chance to respond ---

Thank you Bethany for one of the most memorable weekend trips I have ever taken in this great Arizona!
I have never been to the Young area and now hold this area as one of the most beautiful and scenic spots on my best places in Az list!
I agree with Vern- I love this state and Haglier and Spring creeks hail to this thought.
It was nice to be with friends from the KJ club and enjoy their company too again!
A special thanks also to Bethany and Vern for Tonto passes and D batteries/ battery chargers. Favors like this do not go unrecognized and the favors will be returned. Of course Ernie's cooking was not bad either!
I had a great time with good friends and wondrous locations. This is what Jeeping is all about!!

Roland

PS I will PM Pablo soon on the lift pump so I hope you still have it! I had a good time spending time talking Jeep CRD's and exchanging ideas. (Gotta love those steel inter cooler lines!)
( see, another good thing that came out of this trip!)
