Well I said adios to the turbo hoses (before they hosed me) and had some metal tubes fabbed up. It ran around $340 to replace both hoses with metal tubes and that included a turbo pressure gauge tap and nice heavy duty metal clamps.

Pictures of the tubing are up on the car domain site. It vibrates a bit against the ac line going around corners, so I need to put a spacer there. Other than that, all is fine.

Spent the afternoon (after 5pm) getting the provent bracket installed as I was tired of having that just laying there. So I used my new bending brake and made the Provent bracket based on the pics Turbo Tim sent me. I did not like the wiring bundle right under the hot oily Provent so I took some thermal shielding and wrapped the connectors and wiring in it, and draped the shielding over the side so if any oil gets on them they will run off the wiring harness. Now the heat will stay out too.

Then I decided to replace that nylon hose. It goes to mush in the summer in AZ and I wanted it off before then. To replace it, I got some hydraulic hose. Cutting it was fun, lots of sparks. Then I put it on there. Got it all back together and the air box lid would not close, I cut the return to the intake too short and the angle it was ran was binding the intake to the air box so the box would not close. Dang it! So, back to reroute that line. I decided to pull the return line out and cut another line and reroute it, unfortunately the new hose did not want to come off the plastic hose bend. I got pissed and gave it a good tug and that did it-- I broke the plastic bend that returns the CCV to the intake. What a POS design anyway. I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE PLASTIC. Arg. So then I went to home despot, racing to get there before 9:00 and bought a brass 90 bend and some clamps. Raced back home and put that in the CCV to air intake, clamped it down to the intake, and used the old nylon return line on the other end and called it good for the night. Cleaned the garage up and am just now getting to bed. Geesh. I will try to cut the last section of hose I have left Sunday (or next week). Tomorrow I wheel. What an afternoon.

A big thanks to Sir Sam and George (don't know his screen name) for hooking me up with a used tube!!

Oh, and my "fix" I did on the old tube has worked great the last couple days. I wrapped the problem area in stretchy radiator tape, then wrapped it in plumbing hanging strap. Then topped it off with a few band clamps for good measure. That area will never leak again. Too bad I don't trust the rest of the hose further than I can throw it. After all, the hose should all be in about the same condition and could blow out again somewhere else. But now I have a good replacement and can hang on to the bad one as an emergency backup until the Samco stuff gets in.
