Extended Warranty Yes/No/Maybe?

Has anyone purchased the extended service plan now that Chrysler has the lifetime warranty on powertrains? I can get the 7 yr 85 thou Plus care for about 1500.00. Worth it or not?

I take it from the quick response to this issue, that no one is buying the extended warranties. I don't want to spend the money either, that's why I asked the question.

I purchased the ext. warranty just to cover the sky slider and electronics of the KK and I think a few on here have as well. I have the MyGIG and nav. I got the 7 yr/100K/100 ded. for about $1200. I will put the plug for the website that no one seems to like me mentioning...so here we go.

I used them to get my finance manager to come down on his price. Right now the 7/100K/100 ded is $1377 but on the site it asks for your e-mail address and they send you an additional discount. Right now when I put in my e-mail I got another $180 off the price...so for 7 year/100K/100 ded you can get it for $1197.

I have no affiliation with this site or do I know the dealer offering the warranty. All I know is they sell genuine chrysler warranties. Like I said I used their price to negotiate with my dealer and they matched plus went down another $50 because I told them they are just matching and not giving me a deal, thus since I did all the research I will just buy from the website, they said what will it take to buy it form us...I said another $50 off. So I think if I remember correctly I got it for around $1200-$1250ish.

BTW the 7yr/85K is $1163 on the website. So with the $180 discount you will get a 7 yr warranty for under 1K. :shock:

American Honda does the same thing for Honda owners. When my wife wanted a MINIVAN :evil:

we got the ext warranty from a dealer in Ohio because the dealer wouldn't match the price which was 1/2 off the dealer quote. The funny thing is that a few days after I purchased the contract the finance manager called me and said he talked with his boss and they would match it. I told them it was too late and I bought from the dealer in Ohio and the finance guy was ticked off. He told me it isn't valid and I won't get the paperwork. 6 weeks later I get all the paperwork and valid contracts, etc. I called up the finance guy and he pretty much was just lame and said I got lucky and that Honda doesn't allow this. When I told him of 3 different websites to go to that offer the same deal he just hung up on me...needless to say the response card they send you didn't get 5 stars from us. :shock:

what happened to Chrysler/Jeep's Lifetime bumper to bumper warranty?

They still offer the extended warranty for the lifetime but I never looked into it. I think it costs about $500-$600 more. I don't think I'll have this Jeep over 8 years, but you never know.

I got the lifetime MaxCare - covers everything except about a paragraph of consumables. Paid $2700, which seems to be about $500 too much. Just ordered a Ram 2500 and am getting the same coverage - should run me $2300 last I checked.

if you use the web site listed above to purchase the warranty, you can get it for about $1,700, but that's for California and using their promotion code that gives you $180 off.

I spoke with my dealer today. The sales guy tells me that the price of the warranty depends on whether or not your vehicle has the lifetime drivetrain warranty. Anyway, the dealer offered it to me at just under what the web site quoted me. I think I'm going to see if he will bargain with me a bit. If so, I think I may buy the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty.

He was also telling me that the MyGig system has been updated and now includes a 30 gig hard drive. Has anyone heard anything about that? I'm seriously considering buying a MyGig system too.

I mean George Bush did tell us to stimulate the economy, didn't he? :lol:

It's a great website to know of and to haggle the price for. An educated and prepared consumer is the worse customer for the dealership. I did the same thing with my dealer but did it for the 7/100K. I know I will be under 100K when the 7 yrs are up but it never hurts to have extra mileage.
