If you have an open differential this won't be a problem. Not preferable...but not a problem. If your Jeep was built with the Trac-Loc rear axle, then yes it will cause harm because it will constantly be slipping the limited slip clutches in the differential.
I would recommend taking your new spare to a store that takes trade in tires and trade it for another 245/70 if you have the Trac-Loc rear end.
Yes, what he said. Also if you have the Selec-Trac transfer case. Running in full time with a smaller tire will dammage the xfer case.
