Boys I wanted to ask to you if second you the rigid bridge to the front can be mounted, in place of the independent suspensions (than at least in Italy to the kj you darn many problems). Fatemi to know something. Hello to all from Venice (Italy).

If I remember correctly there is 2.54 cm to every inch. Therefore, the 2.5 inch lift will give you 6.35 cm of lift.

I have installed the Rusty's lift, and the Skyjacker lift, both are fairly easy to install. The OME lift is like the Rusty's. All the lifts have a good points and bad points. I will be installing a Frankenlift in couple of weeks.

Good luck, and what kind or trouble have yopu had with the Liberty (Cherokee) front end?

Al

Hey Andrew,

The c36 is the lower ball joint recall. The lower ball joints are a known problem with the KJ. You can read about it here

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=2934
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... php?t=3317

There really is no best lift for the KJ, it really depends on what is important to you. Price, how much height, quality?

Rustys gives about 2.5" or 6.35cm and is a good deal for the price
OME gives only about 1.5" or 3.81cm in the front. Good quality, but a little expensive
The Frankenlift (www.boulderbars.com) gives about 2.5-3" 6.35-7.62cm. Most expensive lift, but the highest quality.
Don't know much about the skyjacker.. sorry.

I have the Frankenlift and it rides great.

Andrew,

If the lower ball joints keep giving you a problem, get your garage (mechanic) to order MOOG K3199 lower ball joints, they are heavy duty and can be greased. List price is $75-$80 US for ea side.

Also check your sway bar rubbers, they will make a banging noise in the front when they wear out. Good luck with your steering.

Al

Hello To, infinite thanks for the councils, I will make as you say and I will say my mechanic to order to the spherical joints more bottoms than MOOG K3199. Speriamo well that the problems to the front chassis end on the kj. In Italy nearly all the KJ have this disadvantage. To the next one

Andrew,

I live in Brazil and here it's the same thing as in Italy: everything costs double the price than in the US (including the KJ itself). I have a 2005 KJ, 4WD, gasoline. I fitted 245/75/16 tires in the stock rims and they are rubbing like mad. Next step will be lifting the KJ. I've heard of the Frankenlift in the LOST forums and decided to go for it since it seems to be the best one available. I have already ordered mine but did not receive it yet - still on its way down to South America. You can check about the Frankenlift in the supplier's internet site <www.boulderbars.com> but you could also call them on the telephone, as I did. They were very friendly and patient enough with my non-native English talk and endless questions. Their phone number is <+ 1 909 370 4800> Don't forget they are some 11 hours time behind Italy (6 hours from Brazil). I see you have a diesel KJ. Be sure to mention that because I guess the Frankenlift is primarily meant for the gasoline KJs. I talked to Quinn and Heather there. Good luck and buona sera!

Mauro

Mauro, I see that also in Brasi they are blot some to them who pieces of reciprocation cost very more than in it uses. In Italy the kj they mount 235/70 r 16, and jeep the not rilascia null osta for no other measure. Also to me, it would appeal to to mount the 245/75/16 but quì it is not possible. The only thing is that one rivender it in Germany then to make the transformation and import in Italy, it operated becomes much expensive one. Hello to the next one.

Andrew, my KJ also came with 235/70/16 tires. I guess it is the standard size for the export market. I was lucky to find a guy that wanted to buy my 235s (they had just a few kilometers on them) and also to find the 245/75/16 on a sale offer with a lot of discount just a few blocks away from home. I had already learned from the LOST guysthat the 245s would fit... if I had a lift. So I immediately made the tire swap for a reasonable price, I didn´t want to lose the good opportunity. Problem is I did the tire swap BEFORE having the lift! Well, my Frankenlift is finally being shipped today (hurra!!!) by All J Products. I have to confess I'm spending the hell of a lot of money with that. The lift + UPS shipping + 60% import duties into Brazil will make it cost nearly 3 times the US price. I just can't tell that to most of the people I know, they would say I'm mad. Like Americans say "it's a Jeep thing, they wouldn't understand"...
