Well, as you can see in my avatar and signature I chopped the front bumper so I don't rub at all on it. I bashed the pinch weld down and I still get a teeny, tiny bit of rub when turning at full lock, but only right at the very bottom of the bashed up pinch weld. For some reason I can't seem to bash that stupid thing enough. As for the rear, I run 3" bumpstops, no rear sway bar, and long travel shocks and I get zero rub in the back. Let me know if there are any other questions about em.

would I need to shave the bumper or did you just do that for a better approach angle? I am trying to not modify the body beyond pich welds and inner fenders... for now anyway. But I really want to run the Trxus tire.

I rubbed like a mother on the front bumper. I cut it so it didn't rub. The better approach angles were an added bonus. :D

So, why don't you want to cut the front bumper? If you plan on doing it later, I would just knock it out now. I love the way mine looks now too. I like it better than the stock bumper looked anyway.

I don't think you shouldn't run the tires because of rubbing. The tires are awesome. The size of the tire is the cause of the rub, not the style. So if you want to run 31's or 265's you will have to do some trimming. It isn't hard or anything either. Once you get passed actually chopping into your jeep, you won't want to stop. It is fun. :D

Well the fact of the matter is I run a 02 Limited so the Bumber is not the same and would probably look a little funny trimmed up. The second reason is I let my boss put company logos on my jeep (for a monthly fee of coarse) and he may or may not like the trimmed front bumper, although if he doesn't like it he can remove them (yes I am arguing with myself). It looks great when done to the sport bumper, but I don't know about the limited, any ideas?

Hmmmm... What kind of lift are you running? I know TokyoJoe doesn't have his front bumper chopped, at least not what I can tell, and he has the same body style as you. He runs the 4" JBA lift I think, but used to run the Rusty's 2.5". You may not need to chop the bumper for your model year. In that case you would only need to bash your pinch welds down behind the front tires. I hope that works for you. We need someone else on this thread that is informed on the early KJ front bumpers.

I think I have. On my trip last week to Utah, I noticed that my GPS and my trip odometer were reading different mileages. I ended up with almost 70 miles more according to my GPS than my trip od. I know my GPS is correct because I have used it in the past and gotten the same almost exact reading as my od. So I need my KJ reset so it reads the correct mileage now. But to answer your question, finally, I did notice a drop of around 2-3 mpg. (I think) :?

KJKen:
Check out this thread and look at TokyoJoe's bumper. Looks fine with no cutting and he is running 265/75/16 tires now. PM him and ask him about his bumper. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... 567#339567

Ordering a Frankenlift II Premium and some gen 4.5 UCAs. Original plan was 245/75r16 Goodyear MT/R but I really love these tires, better preformance and style. I really wish they made them in smaller sizes. I just may have to look at my bumper when I get off work today. What tool is recommended for cutting the bumper?

Ok, I looked at my bumper and cutting is NOT an option :( Hmmmmm! So now I have a plan "B" which raises one last question, but first let me explain plan "B"

I get the Frank and soft 8 15X8 rims and for now run a Goodyear MT/R then when they are worn I will replace the bumper with an ARB Bull bar and then get the Trxus tires. Now the question this brings up is what tire sizes is similar to a 245/75r16 but on a 15x8? 235/85r15??

what about a 30X9.50 on the soft 8 15x8? Has anyone run this size on a libby? it's a little shorter and not quite as wide. Any feed back :?

You would want to run a 30x9.50 on a 7" rim,31x10.50 min for a 8" rim if you plan to offroad.

I have to tell you TJ that is one BA Libby, I am really trying to setup for the Trxus 31X10.50s but cant change my bumper just yet, the budget for my liberty has already doubled from the original, but I want to do it once. But that ARB Bull bar is just not in the budget... yet. Is there another size that will fit under my KJ on 15x8 rims and still fairly large?

And Thank You to everyone for the feed back

Troy, doesn't TokyoJoe run a stock front bumper. Did he chop his in any way? Does Ken really need to cut his if he is only running 31's and not 265's?

And Ken, Troy is right about the 15X7 rim. If you go with 30" tires you need the 7 and not the 8. I run a 15X8 but as you know I run 31's.

Yes, but he used to run the 2.5" Rusty's lift and if he didn't chop it for that lift you might not need to chop either.

he also ran 245 - 75 X16s then as well which makes a difference
265-75X16 31.8 inches
245-75X16 30.5

also the heighth of the tire does not dictate as much as the width does, saying I run a 31 inch tire therefore need an 8 inch does not always hold true. I used to run Q 78 X15s on a 6 inch rim, and they are like 34 inch tire if I remember right

My final solution... maybe  is I will get my soft 8s in a 15x7 with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R in a 30x9.50 then when the tread is gone (next year) probably I will get the ARB bumper, 15X8 soft 8s and the Trxus 31x10.5s. Wow what a long way to a solution :) Then if I so wanted I could keep a set of ATs on the 15x7s and my MTs on the 15x8s. How does that sound? That should solve all rubbing issues if I'm correct.

Keep the AT's on the 8" rim and put the MT's on the 7" rim.A narrow rim will help hold the bead better when aired down when offroad.I run 265/75 Trxus MT's on a 7" rim,it is stated right on my tires to run on a 7" rim,and the 265's are basicaly a 32x10 tire.
