OK, so what does that mean to us?

I read it that someone petitioned to bring a european spec liberty into the US on the grounds that it can be easily brought into compliance with US standards. However, we don't know if the petition was granted. Wonder what it will take to bring it into compliance if the petition is granted......lose the manual tranny and install an auto???

Ya, though it still would be pricey for a 04 CRD overseas, we might get lucky with this and be allowed to import front clips for conversions.

I'm not sure what that all means, but its a little hopeful.

This might have been the petition, I'm not sure how to search through the publicly available documents about the outcome of these things to find out if the request was granted.

I would import a CRD with a 6 speed in a heart beat. I would be back in the club. :D

So is it a petition to import a single unit by an individual or for a grant to import any e-spec kj?

I went in a read the whole petition and it seems that the petition is to bring the vehilces in for resale. Some of the ugrades necessary include changing the instruments, airbag system including the cumputers sensors, and etc to US specs. Probably 3-4,K worth of required mods.

Since Uffe reports $9 a gallon diesel and a very low market for crd's in Denmark maybe someone is going to buy them up in Europe on the cheap and resell them here

You could've bought my CRD possibly - but if you want to know who to contact I'll give you some details of the dealership where it is :D

If you're very interested go to www.mobile.de and do a search, they include plenty of european countries in their search engine. If you want it in english go to http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/searc ... &lang=en#0

Good luck guys.

You guys would need to be

A) very rich and / or
B) insane

to import a KJ from Europe. These babies did $42k. (over here)
No way you can find a 'cheap' one anywhere.

Buy a new 4 door JK 2.8 CRD. Then you really have the best of both worlds.
