In 2006 when the DIESEL:twisted: Audi TDI R10 won Le Mans that was the final straw for me I knew my next Jeep/vehicle would have to be a Diesel! I had been holding out for a TJ though. My Grandpa always had John Deere's on his farm and those big engines always interested me. Le Mans is going on now and will finish in a couple hours and the Diesel Audi that won in '06 & '07 is facing a challenge from the new Diesel Peuegot.

I just thought you all might drool over these new fast Diesels like I do. And if you or your kids have XBOX 360 and pick up Forza 2 you can race them both!

My desire to own a diesel or two or more started in 1958 when a high school friends dad bought him a new Mercedes 180D I was hooked and twenty years later I bought my first new car. A 1978 Rabbit diesel with a whole 48 horsepower It got good mileage but boy was it slow There's a local rally team that use a VW golf tdi that they have totally funded by themselves. The team's founder is a fireman and they have recieved absolutly no recognition or help from VW at all Here's a article about them. It seems they're into bio now. Correction:

Audi NORTH AMERICA won, that is a big difference. Pugeot came in second and that is pretty darn good, diesel is staying in motorsports.

Yes, Audi TDI won (again, for the 3rd straight year), mostly because the Peugeot's ran w/ radiators which were too small so they spent longer in the pits (10+min.) than the Audi's because they began to clog and overheat when it began to rain, requiring them to be cleaned. The Audi was faster in the rain since they had better TCS, but the Peugeot's were faster overall not a supprize w/ the HP & Twist (torque) advantage. Nevertheless Diesels finished 1-6 overall and in there class completing at least 5 more laps than any petrol cars.

And the Audi's ran GTL diesel mixed with an undisclosed about of biodiesel from biomass.

I seriously wonder how much longer those engine's last? I know w/ most other gas powered motorsport cars they scrap the gasser engine after a race or two especially NASCAR from what I understand. After testing and 3K mi @ Le Mans is a V12 Diesel even broken in yet?

It is coming. I know more and more TDi and Bio fuels are running in the 24 Hours Nuerburgring to include natural gas cars.
