Sorry Guys...the "05 bumper is different

I spoke with All J yesterday and only 2004 and earlier...the '05 guys will have to wait a while longer since the front end was redesigned.

A retainer isn't going to do it....this will be a "pre-payment" situation as I uderstand it. 8)

Rocky Road Outfitters is $717 for an ARB, with free shipping, as far as I can tell. So if you subtract the $100 shipping that Rusty charges, that brings the cost of the bumper down to $616 "plus shipping". That looks like the best deal on ARB that anyone has posted.

Quinn,

Please remember, you asked for a committment from 10 KJ'ers on Saturday at 6pm. By Sunday, you have 9. I'd say we're serious and we're worth the tool-up, wouldn't you? What's your boss's phone number?

Waiting for the final word before I commit.

Prepay? Sure, I'll prepay when my product is ready to be shipped. But not 3 months before and not have any product for my investment.

I'm going to assume you meant "prepay" just like any other product purchased from a vendor where I pay first and they ship it immediately (or thereabout).

Where do you see free shipping? Their web site calcs shipping for me (11747 NY) at:

Shipping summary
Box 1: 150.00 lbs. Shipping: $87.05

So $717 for ARB, $700 for All J.
And at 150 lbs boxed up, that's a lot of front end weight.

Listen folks, some of us WANT this bumper. So please post useful info, but don't trash it. If you don't want it, DON'T POST! If I were Quinn and Steve, I might get fed up with 5 pages of BS back and forth.

I wanted a price point closer to $500 myself, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So you, like I, can decide whether or not to buy one. And if you do, POST YES.

Don't get me wrong, usefull info like Kaboom posted on price, is always appreciated. Of course in this case I'm not sure he's correct about free shipping.

So I'll modify the first post to separate pre-2004 models out and we can get a head count that way.

On another note, Quinn hasn't replied to the post or my email about what he was talking about with an alternate bumper.

Hey, can we get a simple hi-lift mounting point on this thing? I'd only want to use it during off roading, personally. So even empty brackets or holes or something would work.

Sorry about mini-jack on the ARB pricing. Just didn't want incorrect info to be spread and possibly impact someones purchase decision.

May be time to start a new "group buy" thread. State exactly what the terms of the buy are and then have committed people sign up.

I got my 7 ready and waiting.....

What you speak of is a comission: sponsoring someone to create a product for your use. That's fine; if I have a legally binding contract to have the product shipped to me by a certain date, I'm more than willing to put my money down. My concern is only that I get what I pay for and don't have to hunt people down either.

Often comissions are found in the art world, such that a composer of music will be comissioned, and may even receive a stipend or a forward of some monies, during the time they are working on the work. This amount is then deducted from the total price in the end. Both parties are then equally happy if the work is created according to the buyers standards.

Like I said, I'm fine with that if there's a contract. Why do I need a contract? Because I've learned that not everyone can be trusted to work "on their word." I would love to trust everyone wholeheartedly to do what they say they'll do, but it often doesn't work.

The same goes for the fact that I should not be trusted to say I'll buy a bumper without some sort of a deposit or retainer.

I don’t have a dog in this fight since I have the ARB, but why all the whining? A $100.00 deposit is not unreasonable and reduces the risk All J puts up by committing to make a run on these bumpers. These guys make great products and all they want to do is make sure they get a return on their investment. Making a $700.00 custom bumper for somebody only to have them back out on the deal is an all lose situation; something that All J wants to avoid. So, if you really want it, pony up the cash and prove it. Sure, the product isn’t going to ship the next day, but it’s not like All J is going to hose you over. They will get it to you as fast as is reasonably possible.

jpzkj: Once I hear about the terms of the payment from the vendor, I'll let the vendor know if I'm in or out. I'll send an email today.

Thanks.

When I started putting armor on my KJ, the All J tranny skid was available, but all I could afford were the basic Mopar skids. It took me about six months before I could afford it and another six months before I could order my boulder bars. So my thought is that I would be interested in this bumper, but my budget just doesn't allow it right now. But I know that I can't, therefore I haven't posted in this thread until now. And I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position. Some of the people that say they want it but then back out may not be willing to admit that they cannot afford it. So how to weed these people out? I don't know but perhaps if they read this post they will realize they are part of the problem and stop telling people "I'll buy it" only to back out when it comes time to pony up the cash. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Quinn hasn't even replied to my email, so hopefully he's just busy.

I'll start a thread in the group buy area tonight. We'll keep the bickering out of THAT thread. Maybe it's good to keep in here, like Chefdab said. It may help others to see what's really goign through everyone elses minds.

Well I read every post on this and here is what I concluded. There is several people who want this bumper. There are several who want it for way less. And there is a couple who like to complain. As a vender myself I have had my share of burns from bad costomers. For a non-stocked item like this I would also ask for a depost or pre pay. All J Products Has never burned anyone. I have seen people say I'll take one then they make them and that person say nevermind. So if you are probumper order please continue to post. If not please continue to read, but stop the bashing. If you can get a cheeper bumper, then get it. If you need a strong bumper then get the all j one.

Who are you referring to? Hopefully not me because I am a consumer who doesn't go handing out cash without knowing I'm getting a product.

I recall being the first person to offer up a retainer to have a "reserved" copy of the bumper.

Guys,

Quinn is on vacation and, if he is as smart as I think, probably not looking at the board or checking mail. I am sure that he will be back and answering all of our questions next week.

If you have something urgent you should call Steve at the shop. I think he's there...

Man, do we have 10 in to give a credit card (or cash) yet? I really want a bumper.

Anyone who can not trust All J to deliver after all they have done for the KJ's should just bow out. Not to mention the protection afforded by using a credit card... It's not like you are dealing with RK

Later,
J

Should start another list for "'05 Rock Rail" :) I have a feeling it's low on their priority, too.
