Has anybody ever converted their pre 2005 KJ to have the front end of the Rennegade (with hood)?

I have not done it but I did look into the possibility. It looks like you would need a new hood, new grill, new bumper, new fenders, new flares and possibly a new headliner if this has changed for the '05. The renegades look nice and I considered it but the fender changes are what stopped me.

I love the look of my 05 Rennie. The look is the reason i bought it...to me (sorry guys) the flat hood style looks more agressive and less girlie than the "Eyelid" hood.

ahaha.. girlie.. well i love how my 04 looks.. i dont like the 05.. dont like the bumper.. and especially dont like the aftermarket look fog lamps.. but thats my opinion.. my best friend has a 05 blue renegade.. he likes it.. thats all that matters.. its still a KJ no matter HOW it looks.. now go get some mud on your 05 and hush

I gotta agree. The Renegade redesign was the main reason I decided to buy a used Rennie instead. I prefer the 02-04 front bumper design and integrated fog lights. I also prefer the body-colored fender flares to the redesigned gray plastic ones.

The flat hood??? I could go either way on this. I like that it has a look different from the sport and limited, but I think the bug-eyes on the regular Liberties are what makes it look like a Liberty. I almost get the feeling with the new Renegades that it's a Liberty doing an impersonation of a Wrangler.

I like the bumper on the '04 and earlier, but like the Rennie hood on the '05... it may look like a KJ doing a TJ impersonation, but I like it!

I dont mind the 05 bumper...or the 04 ones either. What I really didnt like was the fog lights built into the bumper and very prone to rocks breaking them on the highway, but this i guess is moot since the other 05s have the fog lights in the grill. I love the flat hood, but yeah, my first reaction was this looks like a wrangler front end...fender flairs were not much of an issue with me...mostly it was the flat hood and bumper mounted fog lights, which would be very easy to replace down the road...the only plus i see with the shorter grill and the eyelids is that you could see a bit better when going up over an obstacle.

are the front fenders different? They are close looking for sure. I know the fender flares are differnt, but the fenders?

They are easy to change, BTW, FWIW.

Both the '05 fenders and flares are different and are not interchangeable with the 02-04. I keep going back and forth between the 02-04 look and the 05 renegade. It finally came down to if I change the look, it wouldn't be a Liberty (as I know them) anymore. Now, watch me change my mind when I see an 05 renegade with an nice aftermerket bumper!
