I've got a stock 02 Liberty Renegade 4X4 with full armor and stock size Dueler A/T tires (limited slip in rear), would I make it throught this trail or is it too rough for stock height Libbys? I want to do the easy Cleghorn trail and continue from Lake Silverwood up to Lake Arrowhead on the 2N17X (Pilot Rock) trail but I dont' want to get onto something thats too much for my ride to handle. Thanks.

I don't know, but that sounds like a fun way to ride up to Arrowhead.
I like that your first post is about wheelin'!

Chalk me up to go too. Let us know when you are ready to go. Pilot Rock is a tough trail but it has bypasses for all the tough stuff so if you feel it is too tough you can always go around.

I'm IN!!!!

Ok. Let's meet at Cleghorn and I-15 @ 8am, Sunday 12/4. Rain or shine. The trial is off to the East side of the interstate, and there is a small staging area there. Doug, you lead Pilot rock. I've never been on that trail.

Since there are new people on this trail, I'm going to post the usual...

This is a NONSACTIONED RUN. It is just a bunch of guys getting to gether and going on a trail ride. This is not a ""LOST"" KJ West event. Later...Clint

Gee thanks Burchie! I have been on this trail. It was 4 or 5 years ago and I was not driving. I guess I will have to man up and make it happen. I just pulled the Powertracks out of the rear because of the rain and snow coming, so we will have to take it easy. Does anybody have a map of the area so we can get familiar with our surroundings?

Hey Doug, time to pony up to the bar. Next round is on you. I think we can find our way. Maybe Jeff will come along. He has a great GPS.

Hey 02 Renny,
Your going to have so much fun on the trail, that your rig will not stay stock for long. 2.5" lift, and some boulder bars, you can go anywhere. Well almost anywhere. Here, I'll give you Quinn's number right now. 909)370-4800 www.boulderbars.com. I'm sure you will be in touch with him soon.

Your lucky because Bill, the awesome boulder crusher, is going to be on this run too. He will show you handle the rocks.

Hi: I just saw this thread today, was away for the weekend at Dumont Dunes. 2N17X is the adopted trail of the Victor Valley 4 Wheelers, to which I also belong and am the Adopt A Trail liaison. We run it several times a year.

If I had seen your post in time, I would have cautioned about taking your stocker. Contrary to what someone posted, there aren't bypasses for ALL the rough sections. In some cases, the bypasses are about as difficult as the trail. We worked on the trail recently and even though my 05 Renegade is lifted, locked in the front, and has a rear posi, the wedge was difficult but makeable. Previously, I'd done it with stock tires. You'll probably have some scraping in other sections also, and may need a tug or two. But maybe you've already sailed through the trail! I'd be interested to know. BTW, my avatar was taken on this trail

If you haven't run it, you can always get to Lake Arrowhead by 2N33, which has the same starting place as 2N17X and meets up with it at its top. 2N33 goes on to CA 173. Turn right to Lake Arrowhead, but there's a detour where 173 is closed. :D
