Be glad you guys are in the states. Here in Iceland the police can pull you over for no reason. There is no probable cause necessary. This includes on base driving as we do not have a Status of Forces Agreement with the Icelandic government. I have been pulled over three times since I have been here just because the time of night. It was about 2 AM I was coming home from work. They just pulled me over to see if I was coming from the bar and had been drinking. Oh yeah the legal limit on drinking and driving is .05 and if you refuse a breathalizer they arrest you take you to the hospital and draw blood. So enjoy your rights in the states because not everyone has them.

Here in Iceland

Oh puh-leez, the police here in the US can and will and do pull people over all the time because the people in the car are perceived to be suspicious. Racial profiling of drivers by police was all over the news a year or so ago. Law enforcement agencies all over the country have admitted to the practice and even defended it. For those not familiar with the term, "racial profiling" is when non-whites are pulled over for no more reason than that they are in a certain place at a certain time and appear to not belong there.

The couple of other things to remember and keep in perspective regarding Iceland and the .05 BAC: 1) Iceland has a near-epidemic problem with alcoholism. To illustrate that point consider: Iceland has, at 800 per million, the highest per capita number of Alcoholics Anonymous chapters of any nation on earth according to AA... and 2) At $2,202 per capita Iceland spends more money on public health than any other nation on earth.

Can you post a picture of what it looks like without them on - I want to see what the texture looks like. do you need to put a projector style light in it, or does it look like a stock bulp?

In Minnesota you can get a DUI for .01. Anything up to .08 is up to the officer's discretion. after .08 you WILL get a ticket. If you refuse a breathelyzer, you loose your license and will get a blood test from jail. Its also legal to buy beer if you're under 21 provided it is non-alcoholic. As for the open container, any alcohol within reach of the driver is considered open and you will be fined if caught. Interesting what you learn getting your bartending license.
