Well we got several inches of snow yesterday to play in. I couldn't get the hang of spinning the KJ in reverse but it will do nice tight donuts in forward part time high! I switched back and forth between full and part time on the roads and found full time to give better steering traction. Part time is a lot more fun though if you like sliding around and fishtailing a lot, which I do :D .

I wish we would get some snow here :(. If we are lucky enought to get some snow, it will usually melt the same day, even if it doesn't get much above freezing...

I hope bennybmn can find a skick KJ.... those are real specialty items it seems.

I'd hold out for a safe to drive on frozen lake as it helps having glare ice. Frozen lakes are the best. I can't wait to go to Lake Vermillion after christmas with my new lift and tire chains. The idea of plowing through 2 foot snow where my buddy's Suburban dares not tread is exciting-snowmobiles only? Yeah right.

I also remember hearing/reading somewhere that shifting into neutral lets all the wheels do their own thing too, much better for re-gaining traction. Now I don't see how shifting the transmission into neitral would make much of a difference since the center diff is still locked, and I don't think I would have the time/presence of mind to grab the T-case lever and toss it into neutral, but it's worth a try if you're experimenting in a parking lot or something.

This most definitely works! Works the best in 2wd, but does a decent job in 4-Hi. First thing I do if the back end gets loose is dump the clutch and it straightens out right away on anything short of a skating rink. This would be much harder in an automatic, but I guess still possible.

5-spd manual, 3.7L, Command-Trac 4x4 (the one without a full time option), and stock Track-Lock LSD.

Thanks!! I hope so too. Of course I just realized this weekend that a 5 speed has been available from at least 03, and while I would love a 6 speed, at least that broadens my horizons for a used one...

here's a good one if you have SelecTrac: place transfer case in full-time, put the transmission in reverse, crank the steering wheel to "lock" on one side, then give it gas (or diesel for you CRD folk). The vehicle will rotate on a center axis, something only Audis and Subarus used to do. Its a blast to watch you buddy in his (insert brand name here) fullsize pickup attempt this as it only works with an open center differential. It looks incredible and does not require a lot of space.

Haha I did this in part time the other day completely by accident. I was driving in my neighborhood with my buddy and I cranked the wheel to turn but the car kept going in a straight line. I figured there was no point in jamming on the brakes so i just kept cranking and kept my foot off the gas. The car came to a stop right about where the right lane was of the road I was turning onto, and I pressed the gas. The KJ turned like a helicopter and my buddy almost died of amazment. I played it off like I meant to do it 8)

ahh yes the old "i meant to do that". I live by it. Nothing quite like scaring the H E double hockey sticks out of yourself and convincing your buddy or date that they are wusses for being scared. As long as you dont crash, you can usually pull it off.
