Caught a large bolt in a tire on my way to work. OEM tires had 44k on them and were getting a little tired. Luckily, I made it to a GoodYear store a few blocks from work. After about five minutes I settled for a set of Kelly Safari Trex for $95 each. Anyone have experience with these tires?

Only on my RV, they were the same as any other 19.5" rim - black and round. They were on the back of the RV until they were 5 years past their 5 year use-by date... And I didn't know that at the time, so two of them exploded across the tread in the desert in August 2 years ago.

Some would fault the tires, some would fault the owner. I say the tires were fine during their normal life, and did as expected after that: they failed when their specs were exceeded.

Just ordered a set of 4 tires. I have been looking for a while now and settled on the Cooper Discoverer CTS.
Supposedly long lasting, good water evacuation, good grip, and good handling in the corners.
Summer tires. 70K miles. 45 day trial period.
They have only been out for a month now, so I'll keep you posted.
BTW-size is 245/70 R16. According to you guys they shouldn't rub on an unlifted CRD.

We'll see.

I run 245/70/16 Kumho 798 and there is no rubbing.

Cooper makes bloody good tires, don't think you'll be disappointed. Have them on 4 vehicles now for several years and nary a complaint.
