The last few days coming home from work, I’ve noticed that when I'm at highway speeds, with the A/C on, my Liberty is running hot. Temp gauge is reading around 250-275. I turn off the A/C and it goes back to normal (200-212).

I ran the A/C on the way in this morning, around 6:00am, and the temp was normal. So the late afternoon heat probably contributes. I just had a condenser replaced in early June, and the pressure tested the A/C lines at that time. I think they said they had to remove the radiator. If so I would think they would have to refill the cooling system. I have not noticed any coolant leaks, but I do occasionally need to top off the coolant level. And the radiator is clean (no mud).

Any suggestions?

If they drained the cooling system, it could be low. This would lead to your partial overheating issue. So go out and check the overflow bottle by squeezing the upper radiatator hose (when the engine is cold) and look for a level indicator. You might have to add some coolant from the soud of it.

Other possiblilities:

1) Bad Thermostat
2) Pluged Radiator
3) Worn Waterpump
4) Improper amount of AntiFreeze/Water mixture was used

Hi!
I got the same problem, but the only exception is only when i'm pulling my camping trailer (3500pounds).Here is my thought.
My radiator is 5 month old (Brand new from dealer)It had started to leak at the tank.
When you got problem at hyway speed it's a blocked radiator (inside or out) or a lack of air stream.
Just like you i got the ARB bumper and the big IPF light,It's the first year that i got that bumper and it's the first year that i got that problem to!!!!!
I thing it's the lack of air stream, with all those thing in front of the grill, not a lot of air get go true.
Here what i have done.
Under the ARB you got a sleel plate from the rad support to the bottom of the bumber.I put some 2inch spacer with longer bolt between the plate and the botom of the bumper. It's direct the air right in the lower portion of the rad and my problem stop right away.
The drawback is it lower the lower portion of the bumper for the trail???

I've considered all those things, but the only time it overheats is when the A/C is on. I can turn off the A/C and it cools back down to normal. So I don't think its due to restricted airflow or a bad t-stat.

Could still be reduced coolant flow. I had that happen in a vehicle that hadn't been bled. air bubbles in the coolant lines never came out and reduced the heat-transfer effectiveness by reducing the amount of fluid actually passing through the hose.

That is your problem right there. You need to find out where that coolant is going, get that fixed and your overheating issue should be fixed.

Better get a cooling system pressure test,engine leak down test,and a compression test.You may have a bad headgasket,gracket head,or a warped intake.
