Chalk me up to an EGR replacement although the dealer is going to throw some other parts at it first. I've read the threads on the EGR and Air Control Flow Valve. Looks like I'm going to have to school this tech. I'm going to let them jump through hoops and throw parts at it. This is the 2nd trip in. the first time they just reset the computer and it threw the codes on the way home. Stay tuned. I bought an extended 7 year/70,000 miles warranty so these guys may get real familiar with this Liberty. They did a good job on my Cummins Injector pump. Not so good on the EGR valve yet.

Got the same codes within the past month, plus (eventually) one complaining about the MAF as well. Replaced both the EGR & AFC and all was well.

A side benefit was that the slight miss under light load/throttle at around 55MPH disappeared afterwards.

My guess is that the failure was somewhat progressive - the miss had been there even at 29.5k miles when we purchased it new. Finally failed hard at 42.5k.

They should get there soon enough, just make sure it's covered as many plans specifically exclude emissions gear in their warranties.

Good luck!

Mark

They aren't fixing either properly according to the forum. I'm supposed to pick it up today. My guess is that it won't make it a week before the check engine light comes on again. I'll keep at them until they replace the EGR and ACF.

My question is: what will it take for Jeep to produce a fix? How many complaints and new parts are they going to pay for until they fix this permanently? Seems like a bonehead approach to me. You'd also think they produce a bulletin for the dealers so they aren't trying to rediscover the wheel each time. First Jeep and love the diesel but not sure I'm going to be real patient with this. I'll be a fixture at the dealer until it's fixed right. Meantime, I'll take all the new parts they want to give me.

As far as the warranty issue. This Jeep has 17,000 miles. They are going to pay for it.

Yippee! Got hit with these codes today on the wife's CRD. That makes 3 failed EGR's and one FCV so far at 55K miles on an '05 Sport. At least this last EGR was allegedly the "new revision" and lasted almost 30K miles.........this next one will be #4.

Thank goodness for the 7/70 powertrain warranty.

Too bad this is such a nice engine surrounded by a Daimler Chrysler P.O.S. I think the right front wheel bearing is going out, to top if off, and we already lost a rear U-joint a few thousand miles ago.

125K miles on my '02 Jetta TDI wagon. I expected it to be the typical VW electrical and quality nightmare. It's been pretty much bulletproof, just a few of the standard VW TDI issues.

This CRD has been a hangar queen since it was new. When it's running right, it's a great, fun to drive vehicle. But wow, what a bunch of substandard parts and design collected into one place.

Chris

I haven't had the EGR or FCV in the 52K I own this beast. I don't know if the MODs have anything to do with it. I know the ever since the MODs, this Jeep has been kicking butt.
