I have been hearing a 'clicking' noise, emanating from the front of the Jeep, whenever I have it in 4-wheel drive, and turn - either direction. I took it to the dealer this morning, and they informed me I DON'T have a bad CV. I need BOTH axle half-shafts replaced.

Forturnately, It's still under warranty, so it will only cost me the $100 deductible.

Now, the question: I installed a Frankenlift heavy-duty, with the idea of putting an ARB and winch up front. Since I was under constant threat of lay-off, I never ended up buying the bumper. Without the added weight of the bumper, would it REALLY cause enough strain to ruin the CVS in ONLY A YEAR? (I've put just under 15k on it since installing the lift, and have ONLY gone off-road once, strictly forest service road, not hard-core, since I've spent most of the last two-years going back and forth to the hospital).

I don't THINK they look any worse than other Frankenlifted Libby's that I've seen pics of, but I could be wrong........

Half shaft? Isnt that part of the cv? :?

Im amazed they are doing any warranty work since you have a lift.

I just picked up 2 front c/v axles today. $69ea at advanced auto. Wonder how long they'll last.

Shh!!! Quiet!!!

When I went in this a.m., I looked pitiful, then said, "OK. Here's the deal: I've been laid off since June, so.......I'm PRAYING it's under warranty. OTHERWISE, I'll have to crawl under and do this job myself".

As I mentioned what happened to my hometown mechanic, he replied, "It's VERY slow, right now. They're probably looking for ANY work. EVEN warranty work".

I think they are talking about the inner CV axle stub shaft that goes into the front diff. I just spent 1100 bucks fixing just one.

It was from a 2 dollar C-Clip that want bad.

Took it in yesterday afternoon. They called me this morning, at 10, and said, "It's done". All I spent was the $100 powertrain warranty fee.

Whew! :D
(Oh. and THANK YOU JEEP GODS!!!!!!)
