Glad to see that no one was hurt in that mess and that you got the guy. At least you get something for your time out of it.

We want pics of the new bumper once it is on.

My thoughts exactly. Time well spent. I was also told that as people file claims with their insurance companies for their damages, the companies will search police reports and be able to subrogate the claims because of my efforts. Nice to know that I'm able to help others as well as myself.

A LOST FIRST? A Khaki painted ARB? We'll see...

wow! They're having a sale. Delivered it's now $716.08!!! I paid $742, but I won't go nuts for the $26 since this is all a winfall for me.

But for anyone else interested, this is the best delivered price I've EVER seen! (And I've been looking.)

Glad to hear you are Ok, man. That could have easily ended in a fatality. Scares me just thinking about it.

I got into a bit of an incident with my KJ yesterday, but nothing as serious as that. Some woman in an XJ decided against using her brakes, and smacked into me. I looked in my rearview and saw her coming. She tried to swerve right, and I jumped left (as much as I could w/o going into oncoming), but it wasn't enough. She cliped me pretty good in the rear passenger side. I pulled over, and got out, and she did as well. Luckily neither of us were hurt. I saw the front end of her XJ- headlight gone, parking light gone, maybe some damage on the drivers fender, but the bumper looked ok. I expected to see a bit of the same on my KJ, but nothing. A couple of scratches, but that looks to be it. All of the lines were the panels meet up look ok to the naked eye, and the tailgate seems fine.. Now I know I was driving the superior vehicle  (flame on), but I'm surprized to see no damage.

I suppose there could be some damage under the plastic, and I made sure to file a report at the scene just in case, but it seems ok. Do any of you have any sugestions on what I should look for if I go under the vehicle?

Bring it to a body shop. Plastic hides stuff and those guys now how to spot it! She bend her fender on something!

PS Yes, this could have been very bad. I have since signed that $1M life insurance application that was sitting on my desk. HONEST!

PPS I sell all kinds of insurance, including life.

Good God! That looks awesome! I am soooo jealous. Someone hit my front bumper, please.......well, just enough to crack the whole thing. That thing I have I don't have anyone to blame since they "hit and ran" me in a parking lot.

Question: How is the front tire clearance now? Did you/they remove the plastic wheel well shroud behind the fog lights? From the picture, it was hanging down a bit with the bumper off.

Yes, they cut away the fender liner. It was done last, so you may have spotted that in one of the shop pics.

I was VERY seriously considering going without front flares. I was looking at the KJ without it since mine was torn out, and there's nothing really there to need protection other than the washer bottle. I figured I'd leave them in for a while and see how it is.

So far, no rubbing at all. :-)

So the shop installed it for you? How much out of pocket expense where there?

shop charges $50/hour. hard to tell how much they spent on my bumper that they wouldn't have spent on the stock replacement. don't forget, I had an accident that called for $2,900 worth of work. My tab without the bumper was $1,740. But that included new fender flare and liner, painting everything including blending up into the door. Blending also means new emblems. My mirror was replaced as well.

So 2,900 - 740 for the ARB = 2,160.
or
1,740 + 740 = 2,480 (this is what I actually paid, plus $100 for mirror).

Plus, I had them paint and buff out several other areas of the Jeep from prior damage (for which I was previously paid $1,700 from parking garage for their mishap).

I think they hit me about 6 hours of labor for the bumper, plus paint. So that's about $300 to install. Not too bad considering the professional job they did. I mean, just look at how straigh those cuts in my fender flares are! I don't even have the trim pieces on. Don't need them!
